It's gotten worse since shadowkeep dropped for some reason. But the consoles internal drives are terrible. Obviously having to spend even more money to get things to run properly kinda sucks, but for me an external drive made a night and day difference and an ssd even more so

SSD helped me put a lot

I dont know what SSD you got but no mechanical drive will ever be as fast as a decent SSD (or any tbh) Not even a hybrid

Изменено (Critical Kermit): 1/11/2020 10:42:40 AMSorry what I meant was I bought an 8tb hdd that surprisingly made a huge difference. After that, i got a 1tb ssd which made it even better. The point i was trying to make was that an external hdd is still worth it if you're on a budget and don't wanna spring for the solid state

Yeah, but console drives are 5400rpm so a 7200rpm is still miles ahead of the original drives.
-
The difference between a 5400 and a 7200 and a 7200 and an SSD is abysmal... it would be a better comparison to compare a 3 1/2 drive with a 7200 rpm (I am exaggerating a bit of course)... specially on random read/write...
-
I didn't compare HDD to SSD. Anybody who says an HDD is faster or even close to an SSD is stupid, I said a 7200rpm is still MUCH faster compared to a 5400rpm HDD. It's all laid out in very easy to read words.

Изменено (Mr Fats): 12/15/2019 8:27:28 PM100 MBs vs 120 MBs is not much faster (thats on average of course) but I got your point though, just merely stating that SSD is the way to go. Some people are a bit touchy. Plus I have seen some people using external drives, specially SSD to boost performace but this is a bit of a waste, since the Ps4 only has 3.0 ports (3.0 gen 1 on the ps4 pro) so none will really be able to take advantage of the transfer rates an SSD can provide. Doesnt need to apply to you, dont take it personally, but I do believe the term much faster is incorrect, faster, yes, much faster... not really. Plus may I add, quick random read/writes is when the real benefit of SSDs come into place. So unless you are using a hybrid you wont see much benefit (not saying you havent, I mean in general).
