More unique cosmetics should be earnable in destiny.

I think the title system in Destiny is probably the best change in the cosmetic department of the game. You sink in a ton of time to earn a title you can display, which makes it more worthwhile. If you have the unbroken title, people know you aren't just some scrub to mess with, or at least shouldn't try to. But in the other departments...its pretty bad. I'm going to use gears of war 3 as my example, because I think that is one of the MOST properly done cosmetic systems I have seen in the games I've played over my life time. There were titles, emblems, characters and weapon skins you could earn. Each of these had a quest that required you to put in time to unlock. As an example: There was a title for EVERY single weapon in the game, each of which had 4 tiers to the title so you could be called like...bronze rifle master or something like that, which means you had the first tier in the rifle based weapons complete. It's not a prestigious title, but you would work your way up to onyx rifle master (I think I have it backwards?). I don't remember them all, but the point is, is that you would work towards a unique type of reward. If you got a TON of kills with a weapon, you could have a title called "x master" which is basic, but it still got the point across. There were also far more difficult titles to get as well, such as "seriously 3.0" which means you earned every single medal (which is what the titles were tied to) maxed them out AND earned every single achievement which is extremely long and difficult. A guy with that title is usually not someone to mess with. But this took time and rewarded you with not only a unique title (although not exactly cool) but also it gave you prestige. It's like with a job, being called something like a master technician or electrician holds prestige and people know you are competent at what you do or at least should be. The weight to it feels nice. This same thing carried into the characters you could unlock as well. A character would require you to find all of the collectibles in the campaign, some wanted you to master all of the weapon types, some wanted you to just play the game a whole bunch and so on. Again, a unique reward that you can actually show off. One that makes you feel and look like a bad ass. Same thing for some weapon skins (which there were extra cosmetic skins you could pay for) . I don't remember which were earnable, but I know they existed, I believe with the gold and silver gear you had to earn like onyx rifle and weapon master. Same thing with emblems. The point I'm trying to make is, is that Destiny's cosmetic shop, although I'm not necessarily against, gets way too much of the dev time when these same exact cosmetics could be earnable in the game, via a quest or something. Like...why doesn't each ritual or pinnacle weapon get a quest after earning the weapon that gives you a unique ornament? Why can't there be something extra and somewhat cool to chase after the weapon is unlocked to give you that sensation of prestige other than just getting the same crap everyone else can get? Why does it have to be locked behind a paid for cosmetic shop? Sure it comes into the bright dust area and you can "earn" that currency, but there's no weight or prestige to it and it just feels like missed potential. Although not a good example, the braytech were wolf you got from earning all of the masks. There might not be prestige behind it, but you feel like you worked towards a unique reward. Like in Destiny 1 with the raid ornaments (I might be remembering them wrong). You felt like a bad ass and you looked like one too. You earned it and so people knew that if you had it on you knew what you were doing (like I said, I don't know if I'm remembering it right, but hopefully you get the point). In Destiny 2 a person doing a last wish petra's run gets what an emblem? That's just disappointing and could have been so much more. I understand they want to lock less of the rewards behind specific activities that not everyone can do, but having incentive besides "double rewards" when you have already likely earned everything 50 times over by that point is just disappointing. Like why don't you get an exclusive 1k ornament or something? Like when you did the legend of acrius quest? There's just...not enough effort put into earning things to make us look bad ass after the main content is gone and that's just not good for a game claiming it's an mmo. Those cosmetic things that could be farmable and give a sense of accomplishment just don't exist very much in Destiny 2 and it makes something as simple as an ornament feel more like a participation trophy and not an actual badge of accomplishment when it could very easily be that. Even if it's only a single ornament for the ritual weapons and the rest are paid for, that would be perfectly fine, but that system doesn't exist and so the only things left to do afterwards is endlessly farm the same activities for the same rewards while using the same normal looking gear, unless you pay for it. This is one of the things I give Destiny 1 the biggest props for. It MADE you look bad ass when you WANTED to look bad ass. Is this maybe elitism? I don't know, but being capable of doing things others can't do should definitely earn you exclusive gear. Otherwise it's more optional than eververse is. Again, I'm not against having a cosmetic shop, but the ratio between what's earnable and what's paid should be tweaked. I hope this didn't come off as elitism or something similar. I like cosmetic stuff and it would be great to earn cosmetic gear for the weapons or gear I spent time getting. Like if I were to get divinity it would still be great to have the weapon, but some super bad ass ornament I can only get by completing the title or something would likely give me more desire to get said title.
