We should focus on saving both [i][b]equally[/b][/i]. So often, rescuers rush into a situation with a mind set that humans have the most value of any animal caught in the disaster. But if all animals have equal value, that doesn't give a human baby more importance than a kitten.
For example, if a fire fighter walked into a burning building, and he had a 90% chance of saving a kitten, and only a 10% chance of saving a baby, he should go for the kitten first. [b]I am NOT saying he shouldn't try to help the baby, only that a human baby shouldn't get special precedence over any other animal.[/b]
All life is sacred. And every animal has friends and family that love it. Humans aren't better. We should remember every animal when we go into dangerous situations...
