So, say you prefer to use AR/SMG/Linear FR as your weapon set up. Congrats, if you want relevant mods/perks, you have to wear Solar armor that have the Solar mods you would like. But then you decide to switch out your SMG for a Scout, or the Linear FR for a Machine Gun, because the Weekly activities require them. Congrats, you now no longer have the highest amount of resistance to Solar damage for when you run any activity with Solar Singe (because, let's be real, we all have a set of gear for each Subclass and maxing out resistance for their matching Singes is important). Bungie, please consider freeing up the weapon mods from the element affinities and giving all armor an intrinsic resistance to damage from their matching Element by simply BEING armor of that element.
