So im sure this has been discussed extensivly numerous times especially around the Warmind DLC. But i have been reading my way through the Ishtar Collective again and one key character i can’t really get a reading of is Rasputin. What i mean by that is his motives are still a mystery. So far the only thing that is clear is this Midnight Exigent is some sort of protocol change or code overhaul he is undergoing that allows him to change his perspective on human life and not focus on protecting individual lives anymore so as to allow him to presumably go into hiding and survive in the long run. What i don’t understand is whether that is for the purpose of protecting humanity later or simply himself. Its also clear that his feelings towards Guardians are indifferent at best and he more likely sees as a nuisance even referring to us as walking corpses. The few times he has provided assistance to us has even been shown to have only really been for his own benefit for example the making of the Sleeper Simulant for use by Guardians was because he though the Guardians could be used to try and compensate for the lacking in his campus defenses when his key sites were experiencing more external breaches then usual. Also the forging of the Javelin may have been useful to the Guardians but Rasputin was also in immediate danger of an attack by Xol and the Hive. So basically all in all my question is this. As useful of an ally as Rasputin would be does anyone here think that Rasputin will ever change his views on Guardians and open up to us or even ally with us in the forseable future because personally it seems like he wants nothing to do with us at the moment.
