Self-resurrection as a super ability in Destiny is a bad design because it emphasizes a game-play style that promotes actively avoiding using your ability on the off-chance that you suffer a defeat in a specific scenario where a team-mate reviving you is not a viable option.

Then make it so that you can pop super to instantly revive an ally within touch distance? That way you can choose to use it for yourself or others.

I can revive other players within touching distance by pressing the interact prompt. Why would I consume a super ability to perform a task that any player can do?
I can revive other players within touching distance by pressing the interact prompt. Why would I consume a super ability to perform a task that any player can do?
Because the super would do it instantly? Because there are instances where you can't just use the interact prompt? No waiting for timers for revives in strikes, nightfalls or raids? Not needing to stand there and be a target for three seconds to revive someone? Both of you getting increased grenade energy while they are near you? Being a team player? There are plenty of reasons I can think of. I proposed the touch distance to keep it from being too easily abused, and also to keep it in the flavor of the super. A sudden surge of solar light that brings someone back wouldn't make sense outside of a close radius.
