The nerfs are justified

Since so many people are so freaking upset about the upcoming nerfs, let me remind you why they are doing them. tl;dr
Whisper breaks the game’s ammo economy, super exotics break the orb economy, and we shouldn’t have such dominate weapons in the Crucible. They don’t want us to plow through Season of Opulence content. They are doing what’s best for the game, not what people want.
Let’s start with the most unpopular nerf: Whisper of the Worm I would be lying if I said I didn’t predict some nerf coming at some point. They aren’t just nerfing Whisper because it’s really good, but because it is game-breaking. The main perk of the weapon breaks the heavy ammo economy. People will use Whisper because it can mean infinite ammo against most bosses and extremely high damage. That means that many don’t even consider other weapons an option for certain encounters. That means that if they want an boss to not be melted by infinite ammo, they would otherwise have to design the fight around Whisper, which would likely put other weapons at an even greater disadvantage. The nerf makes Whisper of the Worm a Black Spindle instead of a Black Hammer, and is arguably justified. However, I question why they made Whisper like this in the first place. We had this exact type of weapon in D1 and they nerfed it via Black Spindle, yet they did it again in this game? Why would they give us this OP weapon again if they had already seen how that perk breaks the game? They got everybody to fall in love with the gun only to nerf what people mainly love about it. Also, I question why they don’t improve the gun in other ways. By drawing ammo from reserves, this gun does nothing that a rift or barrier doesn’t do for every gun in the game. Whispered Breathing is still good, but the main perk isn’t as valuable when it doesn’t do anything unique anymore. Super Regenerating Armor This one hurts me, as I might as well have Orpheus Rig boots surgically attached to my Hunter’s legs. I absolutely love using a tether and getting my super almost all the way back. It encourages me to actually use my super, unlike Celestial Nighthawk, which makes me hold onto my super until I see a big boss who deserves the DPS. I worry that if I don’t get enough energy back, I won’t want to use the super anymore and just go back to only using St0mp-EE5. Shards of Galanor was already nerfed to a point that I don’t use them anymore, so I don’t know why they have to nerf them again. To be honest, I don’t play as Warlock much and only see the effect of Skull of Dire Ahamkara from second person, but I see a similar situation. I am sad to see my armor get nerfed, but Bungie is justified. They see that these exotics make the teamwork aspect of orbs of light obsolete. I play solo and don’t need orbs as long as I have decent placement, and that means orbs don’t matter for me most of the time. I can make a ridiculous number of orbs without needing many myself. They don’t want this, so they are nerfing these exotics, but as sad as that is for me, I accept it. Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten (and Ace of Spades) These guns dominate the Crucible. I don’t know how much more I can say. They kill quick and everybody uses them. I’m sad to see these nerfs affect their PvE performance, but they need the PvP nerf. A theory many have as to why these specific nerfs are happening is because of Season of Opulence having activities that these exotics would make too easy. They are making the new raid come out the same day as the new season because they want people to be around the same level in the race to world’s first. Instead of some people doing crazy grinding for days and being higher levels than others and speeding through the raid, they’re only allowing a few hours to grind up before competing for world’s first. Nerfing game-breaking exotics fits this idea of making sure the raid isn’t too easy or completed fast. Perhaps there are specific encounters they designed where they said “this is way too easy of a spot where they can Whisper Spam the boss easily” or “we wanna throw a lot of enemies at them but if they use Orpheus Rig or Skull of Dire Ahamkara, they’ll just clear them out and produces too many orbs without collecting any.” These nerfs suck because the gear you love and use so much aren’t going to be as good, but you aren’t seeing how this gears is TOO good and actually somewhat detrimental to the gameplay. Stop complaining or saying you won’t play or buy things anymore because you can’t cheese bosses anymore. Take your medicine and be grateful that Bungie is trying to make their game better.
