Home (Was bored, wrote this)

Aurah, a hunter, peered through the scope of her rifle as she remained flat against the red sand, her gaze sweeping across the rolling dunes of Mars and falling upon a small cabal base used to refuel some of their smaller air and land based vehicles. Zirix, a Titan was crouched next to her, sunlight glinting off his plasteel plated armor. Aurah briefly took her eyes from her scope and scoffed at him. "Can't you lie down? Your armor is going to get us spotted!" She said. "We'll be fine." He replies flatly, his own eyes watching the cabal base. Their target was a centurion that was supposed to be heading a small scouting force that was to try to break into Rasputin's bunker. While typically the warmind could handle itself, Zavala had insisted that the two of them intervene. A long moment of silence passed between them after Aurah's gaze returned to her scope, no noise around them save for the sand rolling through the wind and lightly scraping against their armor. "....Do you ever pity them?" Zirix eventually asked. "The cabal, I mean." Aurah tsked and looked over at him as if he had insulted Alpha Lupi herself. "Pity them? What the hell for?" Zirix paused a while, his gaze never faltering from the base across the sands. Eventually he spoke up again, "They are just following orders. They're good soldiers. Did you know they're forbidden to return home if they aren't victorious?" Aurah rolled onto her side to better face him and seemed particularly frustrated by his reply. "After the Red War how the hell can you feel one second of pity for them? Do you know how many of our people they killed? How many friends? Or have you forgotten all of that? Are Titans really so dim?" Zirix reached out and grabbed the front of Aurah's cloak tightly, giving just enough of a tug to pull her slightly closer through the sand. "Don't insult me for having a heart, Aurah...." He growled, releasing her and then sighing heavily. ".....I could not imagine being forbidden to return to the city. Forbidden from being able to see her again...." Aurah, whom had only just recomposed herself sighed as well and kept her eyes focused upon him. "....The traveler?" "Yes." He replied. Aurah felt a small wave of empathy, something uncharacteristic for her as she let her gaze return to her scope and the base beyond. ".....I guess you're right." She mumbled. "If nothing else, I can respect their sense of duty. It closely mirrors that of a Titan of the city." He said, and though she said nothing in return he could feel her roll her eyes. "Target sighted." She said at last. "Do you have a clear shot?" The only response he got was the resounding crack of her rifle firing a single time, followed by a cabal distress flare being fired into the air in the distance. "C'mon big guy. First round is on me back home. We'll drink to that centurion finally getting to go home too." Aurah said.
