PvE and campaigns make me feel completely un-epic and unremarkable

To be honest, D2 hasn't made me feel epic at all because it concentrations too much on the gun game and not enough on your abilities. Here are my issues: 1. Basic ability regen: The basic abilities take too long to regen. To be fair, there has been a good amount done to make them regen faster, and it is tolerable at this point, but it still leaves me wanting more. The supers regen is fine imo. 2. More abilities: I not only would like more basic ability regen, but more abilities themselves. You've got melees and grenades (which all follow the same arc) and flight, thats it. We are beings chosen by one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, forces in the universe. Why are we stuck to such dull archetypal "abilities". Give me something that spawns clones of myself to distract enemies. Give me something to turn an enemy into an ally for a period of time, or let me summon an elemental. Let me make a flying turret or something. I want things that, things that seem awe inspiring, not just a special punch, special grenade, and special class ability 3. Grenade and Class Ability selection: You've got 3 grenades per class and most of them are just plain dull, silly, or ineffective. Can't we have more? Similar story for the class abilities. For example, let the warlock have a well that functions as area denial or something. Additionally the current lack of endless horde mode also makes PvE less enjoyable. I want to face waves of enemies until myself and my fireteam can't handle it anymore. These issues have disenchanted me and leaves me feeling unremarkable throughout PvE and especially the campaigns. Take the Red War campaign. There was not a moment in it that I felt "chosen", that I felt like a "warrior of immense strength and potential". It constantly reminded me of how unepic I was. I felt like anyone with a gun, a bag of grenades, and a jet pack could do what I've done. Guardians at the bare minimum should be professionals, more powerful than soldiers, yet they couldn't clear the landing docks of Pacific Archology, couldn't take on a few dogs in the wilds of Earth? In turn that made me look at guardians, at least lorewise, as a group of pathetic meatheads who used their revivals as a crutch. Tbh Forsaken was the first D2 campaign that I actually "enjoyed" and that was due solely to how the conflict was simple, personal, and to the point. It didn't make me feel pathetic like the Red War, it didn't have the ethereal threat of Curse of Osiris, and didn't have the shenanigans of Hivemind. You wanted blood, and no-one could be spared to help you. And for the record, I don't do PvP in this game for a number of reasons which I won't discuss. While the focus away from abilities likely has to do with PvP, it seems silly that you can't have the best of both worlds by treating PvE and PvP separately. Well that's my two cents.
