Rumor has it that the almighty Emperor Mouse (Hail Emperor) is so displeased with EA’s handling of the IP that Disney is now looking at other publishers to produce Star Wars games. Ubisoft and Activision are supposed to be in the running to receive a chance. What do you think about this? Who would you rather see get the license?

What the -blam!-
-
A Star Wars game using Assassin’s Creed combat with lightsabers is something I can get behind.
-
Disney to give the license to Microsoft game studios. You heard it here first. Can't say how, I just have a feeling.
-
Maybe remake the old battlefront games with a graphics upgrade
-
Why doesn't Disney just get into the business of publishing and commission companies like platinum games to make star wars games. They definitely have the money and can easily obtain the resources.
-
Give it to an indie studio

IDEAL SITUATION: George Lucas sees what Disney and EA have done to his beloved franchise and feels sad. Sadness leads to Anger. George goes back in time to the moment when he's signing the contract to give Disney the rights to Star Wars. Mid signature he throws the pen across the room and gives everybody there two big middle fingers. George spits on the floor before being escorted out by security. George approves of 10 more seasons of Star Wars the Clone Wars. George decides to make movies for the EU books from after Episode 6 (with a few retcons). George gets help from from another experienced filmmaker (maybe Spielberg) so that the dialogue isn't cringy like in the prequels. The first trailer becomes the most viewed video on Youtube (and it would still be the most viewed today in 2018). The first movie is a critical and commercial success breaking records seemingly everyday. Fans and critics love it, and so do newcomers to the franchise. George takes a month long break before inevitably having to work on the next movie. He realizes that, through all of the craziness, he's forgotten about those Star Wars video games. George buys Bungie Studios (who have recently left Microsoft for creative freedom) to work on Battlefront 3. He makes sure that all of the talented people who gave the company its reputation in the first place continue to work there for a very long time. No lootboxes. THE END

I’d be cool with Ubisoft doing it. I don’t understand why they’ve got a bad rep, I’ve liked most of the games of theirs I’ve played.
-
CDPR and KOTOR 3. Never gonna happen but... *hits blunt*
-
Anyone but the big three I mean CD projekt red is the obvious one but I wouldn’t mind seeing Bethesda Star Wars on a new engine I think I’d be pretty damn happy if Bioware got it pre-ea or even Blizzard
-
I would prefer Ubisoft, I mean, take a good look at D2. I've read that they have 2 companies lined up, are these these the two companies mentioned?
-
How about.... wait for it
LET Lucasarts develop it???????????? And then oh you know any non shitty publisher do their part
-
Honestly EA should be fine now, Disney has demonstrated that any -blam!-ing about won't be tolerated
-
Hopefully not. The games are good.
-
Star Wars should be looking for someone other than Disney. Except rouge one was 👌

Изменено (albinomachina): 2/21/2018 9:14:05 PMWarhorse Studios edit - obviously not exclusively like EA but I would really like to see what they could do with a first person, KOTOR era, Jedi based RPG. Best lightsaber combat ever.
-
Obviously Nintendo
-
Maybe Mickey Mouse will be a hero in Battlefront 2.

Just not activision. The micro transactions would be even worse.
-
I think there’s about as much truth to this rumor as the one I’m starting right now that god has chosen me to be a real life Bruce Almighty.
-
Oh please be true. Star Wars is in bad enough shape in Disney hands, let’s hope it doesn’t stay in EAs.
-
I find SWBF2 to be a great game. I’m sure Disney does too, if anyone over there actually plays the game. I won’t be holding my breath when it comes to whether or not the rumor is true.
-
But is Ubisoft and Activison any better?
-
Why give it to a specific publisher? So far the result of that has been 2 first person shooters. If they just gave limited listens to studios who have good ideas, we’d have a far more Star Wars games by now. As it is EA can release games as slow as they want because they have no competition.

If Ubisoft got the rights, they would just make a huge empty open-world game. If Activision got the rights, they would probably create another cookie-cutter first-person shooter. To be honest, I think EA's Battlefront 2 is better than either of those would be. As someone who actually enjoyed the game, I think this whole BF2 controversy is blown way out of proportion.
