Nah, they just made everyone goofy and cartoony like Cayde because they saw that people liked him.
Actually no, a lot of characters like Sloane, Ikora, and Devrim are the same blandness that we had in Destiny 1. The truth is, I don't think the writers at Bungie have a clue what their doing with the universe. Like Vance being a fangirl, that can't be a flanderization of his character because he never had a character. They must have just pulled that out of their butts one day. (These are the same people who couldn't figure out what the darkness was after 3 years of telling us about it, sooooo).

Vance is a cult member. It follows that he would be obsessed with the (albiet reluctant) figurehead of his cult. Honestly, I'm not even trying to say that all of the characters have been flanderized. I suppose I should say that with Cayde's flanderization comes the potential for all of the other characters to be flanderized. They're already being dumbed down.

Vance looked and spoke like a bad ass in d1 lol then they made him a creepy lil stalker fanboy of Osiris.

I'm not saying he didn't. I'm saying that it's an understandable aspect of a cult member to be obsessed with the figurehead of their cult. "Drink the Kool-Aid" is a phrase for a reason.
