Some feedback from a Destiny virgin

Being a PC gamer, I never had the pleasure of playing Destiny 1. In general, I and my friends very much enjoyed the initial experience of D2. Unfortunately we have all stopped playing. I'd like to share some positive and negative thoughts. PROS: The shooter mechanics and core gameplay is absolute stellar. The weapons feel varied, give a satisfying punch. The aesthetics of the game are fantastic. The strikes are good fun, but sadly become a bit stale after a while (Score system will definitely give them further life). Same can be said for public events. Communication from Bungie is certainly improving. CONS: Content....Now pre CoO the game still felt fresh and fun. In a very unusual twist, once the expansion had dropped and the content was quickly consumed the game felt.....well....worse....much much worse. I can't really explain it, other than the expansion being a huge disappointment. There no longer really felt like a reason to play and after 3 weeks we all got bored and left the game. There isn't a great deal to do and what little there is, isn't very satisfying. The loot system is probably the weakest part of the core. It causes far more annoyance than satisfaction. I understand decent loot should be a challenge to acquire, but at least give grinding a purpose. Personally i'd prefer a system akin to WoW where grinding pays off. breaking down useless gear to trade in for more useless gear makes absolutely no sense. Random roles would be a huge plus and going even further a system like borderlands would be amazing (although balance would go out the window). I'm a believer that fun comes before balance, but i appreciate not all would agree. Eververse ....yikes.... I have no problem with micro transactions for aesthetics. However it is too greedy currently. Don't lock items away behind a pay wall. Its rude and you are only going to upset your players. Keep it light and jolly. Ultimately it is very evident the game was rushed. You should never release a game in a weaker state than its predecessor. Im sure that was much more Activisions decision than Bungies, but regardless it is very obvious with the lack of content and polish. As it stands, I have faith that Bungie will vastly improve the game, but right now the game is not in a condition that is fun or satisfying. I continue to read the forums and watch videos with interest and i'm sure I will return to the game much further down the line when its had some Division treatment. The staff at Bungie have worked hard on this franchise and im sure they are incredibly frustrated by all the negative feedback. Lets be honest, they are more than likely doing their best to address the community concerns and return favour to the Destiny universe.
