So, after watching videos like this one, I was thinking if it would be viable to merge Sniper Rifles with Kinetic Weapons, since this would give both pvp and pve a little more variety, as players would have more liberty of choice towards their play style.
New Layout
Slot 1: Primary (Kinetic Weapons and Sniper Rifles)
Slot 2: Secondary (Energy Weapons)
Slot 3: Heavy (Fusion Rifles, Shotguns, Grenade/Rocket Launchers and Swords)
For example, if you have solid aiming skills, or are willing to take some risk, you would be able to run a Sniper Rifle on your primary slot, having to rely on hitting constant headshots or you would run out of ammo very quickly. Requiring some more ammo efficiency/management to play that way.
While less skilled or more laid back players could opt to just keep their standard Kinetic Weapon in their slot, since that way they would have more ammo and be less prone to getting punished if they can't hit their target as well.
No expert in Destiny here (started playing not long ago), but I think this workout could please some of the more hardcore players while at the same time keeping all the casuals untouched.
As for heavy weapons: Grenade Launchers, Swords, Shotguns, Fusion Rifles and Rocket Launchers would still be there (and I'd say that's already a fair amount of weapon types for just 1 slot)... Maybe you could even re-implement some Heavy Machine Guns in further patches or DLCs, since you've already got the assets needed from Destiny 1.
Not to mention that all of this could potentially bring some more usability to Shotguns, as they're being quite underused right now, along with Swords in PVE, since Sniper Rifles can be used to cover that long range "gap" so present in the game right now.
Well, let me know what you think about it.

Just going to say this for the sniper as a kinetic idea. Too OP. Reasons for this are pretty basic. -You die you get more kinetic ammo. -Snipers can kill in one head shot. -Everything else takes far more than this. In all it'd be the nightmare i remember from destiny 1 where almost every corner you came around was met with an instant death. Personally i like aspects of this weapon system in that on strikes i can run double hand cannons or a hand canon and other use to be primary. On the other hand i do think destiny 1 had the better set up in general and they also had the whole you die and lose your special ammo in crucible that helped a little bit.

Personally, I am more in favor of this Primary - Auto Rifles, Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Shotguns Secondary - Handcannons, Sidearms, SMGs Heavy - Fusion Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Grenade/Rocket Launchers and Swords Sniper Rifles would need a massive nerf to their rates of fire to be a primary, and in PvP, shotguns can be tuned down a tad, so only certain resilience builds will be one shotted, while their damage is not changed in PvE. Or shotguns can only 1 shot if most of the pellets hit the head.

I choose to just say “NO!” To OHK PvP griefing.
-
Why shotguns fusions in the heavy slot?
-
This isn't rocket science man. D1's loadout system was the best. Stop messing with a good thing and tweaking what wasn't broken to begin with.

Having a sniper rifle in my kinetic slot would be wonderful. I would love to see some sort of No Land Beyond return from Destiny 1 as well.

I think we're stuck with the current weapon system until at least a year.....and probably until Destiny 3. Its just baked too deep into the game. But if they were to change things around. I'm in favor of the changes that Say No to Rage has been advocating for. 1. Merge the Energy and Kinetic slots. IOW, give us back D1 elemental primaries. 2. Move shotguns and snipers out of the Power slot, and move them into the what used to be the Energy slot...and regulate their ammo economy like you did special weapons in the D1 Crucible. 3. Leave everything else: Swords, Grenade Launchers, Fusion Rifles and rocket launchers in the Power slot....but give everything but rockets and swords a MAJOR buff. so that there is a reason to use them. He thinks---and I agree---that this would solve both the current problems in pvp and pve. 1. It would increase PVE DPS output. You can now carry three elemental weaons (Prism) and you now can carry two high burst damage weapons, that will make end-game content less obnoxious. Because you're better equipped to deal with timers, and super-tanky-yet-agile enemies. (IOW, you can complete Prestiege content without having keep wiping to get power ammo). 2. It would give you options to break up the team shooting that has made game play in the Crucible so stale and predictable right. With access to OHK weapons in the second slot, camping in the corner of the map and team shooting all the avenues of approach will become a less effective strategy. Because they now have to be wary of getting sniped down long sight lines. or flanked, rushed...and team wiped by someone in their midsts with a shotgun. This would make the game play individually more dynamic, less predictable...and FORCE teams to move if they want to stay alive. Because right now the team-camping strategy is a SUPER low-risk play style in any game mode where there is no objective to force people to not do it.

Изменено (Crow): 12/14/2017 7:03:37 AMWrong Do you even know why they did it like this... ? They have different strengths to begin with, Energy is meant for removing shields and Kinetic kills targets faster while they have no shield. This is rarely requires yes however if you go Prestige or at times when a hard mode is on for nightfall it becomes usefull, power is just strong and my guess to its name is to simplify callouts in pvp. It is not battlefield and its not like you can swap weapons around to specific slots , you carry 3 types of weapons for a good reason here and not 3 different handguns. You are new i get it but give it some time and you get used to it and understand why energy is good at disabling energy based armor and penetrate armored targets in general while kinetic melts smaller targets fast yet deals less on shielded targets.

shotguns and snipers should be primaries and be buffed but the kinetic and energy weapons should stay
-
Interesting idea. Can’t say I agree or disagree, but it would be fun to try.

Snipers as primaries no way
