The title is pulled from this wonderful review by a YouTuber name SkillUp.
I've watched many reviews of D2 since it's launch and almost every time I have to wonder if they're playing the same game as I am. Most seem to have forgotten where D1 ended and how many steps back D2 took from it.
I like to think of myself as this games true audience. I've been here since day 1 of the original Destiny beta. I was there to see Atheon pushed off a cliff, and Crota get lag switched back to hell. I witnessed the arrival of the Queen's emissary to the Tower, and grinded through the heavy ammo drought. I saw the introduction of micro transactions and it's effects like Festival of the Cost. I stopped another attack on the city by the Fallen and slayed a God. I eventually became an Iron Lord and saviour of the people.
I've been with this game through thick and thin, good times and bad. As a true Destiny fan, as part of this games core audience I have to say that the review above is by far the best and most accurate review of the game. And I encourage you all to take a look at it. Hopefully Bungie will see it too.
If you're anything like me, someone who's always loved this game but wants to see it move forward, not backwards, I think you'll have a hard time disagreeing with the majority of the review. It's honest, well thought out, and comes from someone who's been through it all just as many of us have.
The forums are nettled right now. People are attacking each other over whether or not they like the game. It's not about liking or disliking it. I love this game, D2 is great, but that doesn't blind me to how many glaring issues there are with it. And that's what the review is. It's acknowledging the good and bad while providing actual feedback and voicing legitimate concerns. It puts words to the forums current state. So again, it's a little lengthy, but I encourage you to watch the review. Hopefully Bungie sees it and takes it to heart as well.

Oh wow.... you mean all of my predictions of what D2 would be (based on past history, reveals, and dialogue from Bungie) turned out to be completely correct? I'm no clairvoyant, but this stuff was all written on the wall and anyone that thought this experience would be different or better was lying to themselves. I'm glad i didnt buy this game and played it for free through gameshare with my friend. I'd be disapointed with my purchase. Instead, i'm disapointed with what amounts to a free game to me. The hopes and dreams of what Destiny COULD become have finally been destroyed by the release of D2.

Rise of Iron was better than D2.

Agreed. Destiny 2 doesn't feel like a sequal for destiny fans. They made a game for the people who quit playing d1 after a few months and they will do the same in a few months this time too. In addition, the hardcore fans who love destiny will be bored with the game in a couple months as well if they aren't already. I really hope the first dlc brings meaningful end game

house of wolves was the peak of the franchise. all downhill from there.

Found this article. Good read. Basically Activision would take control of Bungie's stocks if they didn't release Destiny 2 on time. This explains the incomplete product problem, again. http://fraghero.com/destiny-2-releasing-2017-bad-news-gamers/

You ain’t lying. Taken king is a proper sequel. Destiny 2 should have been the expansion and taken king be the sequel.

His review is spot on, totally agree with it 100%

I suspect when D3 launches, we'll still be in the tower, fighting the same retarded enemies while dealing with yet another garbage levelling system.

Изменено (REVENANT): 9/24/2017 8:09:01 AMAlright. So basically he's asking for a D2 that competes with D1+Expansions, with new, unspecified but necessarily innovative changes, it isn't a matter of discussion what these changes should be or to which degree they should be implemented, we just NEED things to be different so we can get satisfied... and preferably D2 should have also released with the D1 content he liked, such as old strikes and raids to make it feel "Bigger"... ok.... no, not ok at all. He's disregarding the networking and world design changes that may very well be making what he's asking for technically impossible.

Couldn't agree more with your statement and Skillup's review. He seems to be the only honest one that is truly a Destiny fan.
-
Especially TTK quests where amazing. So far the quests in D2 suck.
-
Oh, you are completely misinformed about that mate. Destiny 2 is a much better sequel to destiny 1 then ttk. There is a ton more to do then ttk ever had...
-
SkillUp is a fantastic content creator and he is largely spot on with his summation review. I don't agree with everything but I do largely agree with the sentiment that as a sequel, D2 does NOT make enough leaps forward and too many steps backward to be considered a true improvement. In addition, SkillUp presents himself and his opinion while also respecting those who don't agree. Very refreshing vs the typical Destiny content creators out there.

Defender was a better game than destiny 2.

Great read. Brought-on some welcome nostalgia. Thanks for that. I haven't played D2, so can't comment on the game review; other than, it doesn't look good from where I'm standing.

Bump . Watched this last night. Excessively more accurate than any IGN review. The truth is saddening. What a waste.

Wow, this from my pov perfectly captures my feeling about D2, especially after the raid. Well done, and thanks for putting all the time in. Let's hope Luke Smith will see this video too. Would not surprise me they have started already on the follow up on all of the flaws a few months ago. Because in the state this game currently is, there is no real incentive to stick with it, aside from a crippling addiction to read gear and max power level. And I'm sure that is not their intention.

SkillUp produces great content and is one of the best YouTubers I know of, when it comes to video games. Even though this review was nearly 50 minutes long, it was worth the watch, as he delivers both eloquent and intelligent reasons why this "sequel" is a step backwards, but still an enjoyable experience for several reasons.
-
OP makes a good point. Title alone says it all. King's Fall was an unfun raid, though.
-
Make sure those rose tinted glasses are on tight.

Late ttk? Agreed Early ttk? -blam!- no

Hey! You must be that guy who fired Deej!

Here is my full piece on what we should expect of a Destiny game in order to be a complete product and to blow Destiny 1 out of the water. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/232841334?
