A possible solution (hypothetical) to the grief audiences are having with the new load-out system.

I've seen a decent amount negativity regarding the new weapon load-out system implemented for Destiny 2. I've also seen a lot of positivity regarding it as well. There obviously will never be a clear cut stance that the general Destiny populace will have about issues due to the shear multitude of backgrounds and play-styles that are used by the hundreds of thousands of players around the globe. There will always be people that prefer something that another group may be heavily against. It's just natural. I don't envy the position Bungie is in right now regarding such a strong message that many members of the community have brought forward. It's there job to figure out what is causing such grief and come to a possible solution. Unfortunately, much of this grief is directed towards a key component of Destiny 2. The weapon load-out system. Players are allowed to equip up to three pieces of gear with one 'Kinetic', one 'Energy' and one 'Power' weapon. I feel safe in believing that this load-out system is here to stay for quite some time. Big question to pose here: Where does that leave the portion of the audience that may be so willing to embrace the changes made to the rest of the game, a game these people may have been looking forward to playing? What happens now that the feta cheese in their sandwich has been replaced with cheddar? Should they be told to live with it and stop their complaints or leave entirely? I've enjoyed Destiny since it's launch in 2014 as much as the next person. I've been through every raid and accomplished most of the Triumphs since day 1 (missed a few in Year 1). I've tried my hand at Trials (not my cup of tea unfortunately) and stacked medallions in my inventory during a losing streak in Iron Banner. I wouldn't know where to stand if I found myself being so strongly turned away from a franchise that I have come to enjoy with much time spent in it. I wouldn't like being told to just shut up or leave. While I most certainly wouldn't believe that the load-out system could be changed dramatically, I do stand to believe that there could be compromises put in place. Something to satisfy those who feel disheartened while maintaining the core principles behind the change in the first place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My idea is thus: Implement a variety of three "low-tier" power weapons. These low-tier weapons would be unique to the "Energy Weapon" slot and would have slightly higher reserve ammo capacity in comparison to the standard Power Weapons. Shotguns, fusion rifles and sniper rifles but with noticeably reduced damage outputs, or simply a much greater reduction within Crucible environments only. The goal is introduce a set of weapons that pose a very limited threat within Crucible to the point where they are much less effective than their 'Power-Weapon' counterparts. They could be (within universe) retuned during Crucible play to have reduced power-outputs and other sci-fi jargon. Fusion rifles that would require two full bursts to take down an enemy. Sniper rifles that only chip away half of enemy health on critical hits. Shotguns that are just ballistic melees. You get the idea. They don't pose a threat to "one-hit-kill" scenarios within Crucible. In PvE however, they would have more respectable damage outputs. Not on par with Power-Weapons, but enough damage to be a viable tool within the players arsenal to fulfill certain play-styles and damage roles. They wouldn't be the proper tools to take down Ultras or any big targets but they would viable enough tools for general use against lower-tier enemies and Majors. Enough to satisfy that little itch that many players may get. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TL;DR : Sectioned off the main idea.
