Explosive weapons generally do great in this part of the raid. Now since you don't need to get precision kills you can fire into and destroy the legion of thrall chasing. I used to use Icebreaker when soloing the abyss. It really helped when my Invisibility was taking too long to kick in and the thralls were getting too close. Necrochasm should be able to achieve the same success if not even great due to not having to worry about the reloading timer that Icebreaker has to deal with.
