With Watchdogs 2 and Titanfall 2 showing, people are willing to give sequels second chances even if they thought the originals were disappointing. Destiny 2 is Bungie's last real chance to get the gaming community on board with the Destiny franchise. These are 5 mistakes Bungie cannot afford to make with Destiny 2 (in no particular order).
1) Expect people to have played all of Destiny. Destiny and its expansions have made progression in storytelling over time, but Bungie cannot expect people to buy Destiny the Collection and slog through some admittedly painful levels just to know that we killed Oryx or that the Speaker is a prick. I am not say to ignore the OG story, but it should be easy for someone who never touched it to understand what is going on in Destiny 2
2) Have a shitty story. I think that even the biggest Destiny fanboy would admit that even at its best, Destiny's story was just average. At worst it was laughable. Now I am not calling for another Halo 2, but Bungie needs to hit some sort of stride with in game storytelling in Destiny 2.
3) Release an unfinished game. Bungie hasn't done this yet, but Bungie needs to put out a fully made Destiny 2. Halo 5 came out painfully incomplete and suffered for it.
4) Day or Month 1 DLC- After the debocle that was The Dark Below, Bungie cannot put out any substantial content and charge for it within a month of release. Even if it isn't cut content, people will grab torches and pitchforks.
5) micro transactions- As much as we would all love it if they were removed, we will be getting micro transactions with Destiny 2. Bungie has done a fairly good job at keeping micro transactions away from "pay to win" and that needs to stay. Paying for weapons or abilities would ruin what Destiny is and make it no better than a mobile app.
What do you think? Did I leave any out?
-
Micro transaction for a random item suck. Take the random part out and maybe more people will purchase stuff.
-
Good thoughts but for numbers 3 you know that Bungie didn't make Halo 5 right?
-
Why does everyone hate micro transactions in Destiny? You literally get no advantage for buying them.
-
Lol. MS aren't going anywhere, bungie has made billions in MS. With activision's dateline penalty forcing bungie to release on time. More than likely we are going to get another unfinished game. Sadly......
-
Oh no child, there's no way Destiny, original, vanilla destiny, can pass as a "finished" product.
-
Prioritize.... P2P= Nope 30 fps= nope It's 21017! Bring the game up to date! Storyline= distant last...

Biggest thing they can't afford to do is pander to PVP CoD retards. Look what doing that this time around has done.
-
Agree with a lot of that. Just to clarify, tdb was released a couple months later. I'm cool with that if it's worth it. I'd be happy with paid how sized content every 3 or 4 months, just to keep content coming. You're right though, people won't buy substandard content again and that could be a huge breaking point.

Actual balances instead of meta shifts
-
Agreed. Also, a balancing of pvp each month or two, instead of every 6 months would be nice.
-
I approve.
-
I agree. Quick note, you say 10 mistakes in your post even though there are five listed. Not trying to douche nozzle your post, just a heads up since the trolls are bound to show up and demand the other five or something lame.
