kinetic weapons should deal 20% (1.2x ) more damage to non shielded opponents. That's it.
Edit: for those of you who don't know, elemental weapons do 100% ( 2x ) more damage to shields.
why you may ask? well ever since elemental primaries became a thing, there was no reason to run your favorite weapon as opposed to a elemental one ( unless your fav weapon was an elemental one ). but, This idea would bring kinetic damage weapons more inline with elemental primaries, but not deem them overpowered. And because I like the concept of elemental primaries and don't see bungie stopping the concept any time soon, it would be very beneficial too just upgrade kinetic damage. Both for variety and the playerbase in general.
and it could lead to some cool concepts and mechanics, such as:
:kinetic special and heavy weapons. ( universal remote and nlb do not count. sense They are in the primary slot )
:kinetic burn modifiers in nightfalls, poe, or other content
edit: and, it sort of makes sense In a real life way too. Kinetic weapons use solid physical projectiles, meaning they can penetrate the body better and do more interior damage than elemental type weapons. But I can't be too sure about that, no one has invented plasma/laser type weaponry yet so we can't determine how much damage a non solid projectile would do. Not that It matters, this is in fact a completely fictional game. But just a thought that sparked my curiosity.

Sort of how energy based weapons in halo deal more damage to shields and kinetic weapons deal more damage to armor.

This is a common thing in borderlands. Some enemies resist all elements so you have to have a few good non elemental damage weapons in your set up. Would be nice to see in destiny
