He was a fairly new rider and the first canyon ride he did was a pretty tough one. It's a harsh reminder to all riders of what could happen if you're not careful and to know your limits. These things can happen to anyone!
Luckily it was a firetruck that he hit, so he got a pretty quick medical response. He's got a couple of broken bones and he's a little banged up but he's recovering pretty well. Already walking on crutches.
It's crazy dude, he's my boy so it's kinda weird that this happened. Super glad he's alright though.
My friend did several years back, it was mid-spring and there was a lot of residual sand still on the roads from winter. He had significant bleeding in the brain and had to have emergency surgery... He still had a very noticeable scar, but he's alive, competent and living a normal life. Hell, he even still rides and sells Harleys.
