Knew from day one it would not be possible fore xbox users, was never sure about ps.
Problem comes from the 360 and xbone servers are totally different and could not both be supported on the save server.

Thats not entirely true since some of the game i believe is hosted by bungie. Wich from a programming perspective would make it very easy as all your consol needs to know for a given character is their position orientation and the action they are currently doing as well as the equipment they have. data like that boils down to just a few numbers wich can easily be relayed to any system requesting the info regardless of platform.

Xbox doesn't support it. So it was never a possibility there. Since the box belongs to MS and the network it connects to, if they say it's not happening it;s not. PS supports it, so I'm a little disappointed there's no cross gen for PS3/4 as I'm the only one I know that has a PS4. I really like that you can play your character on both though, and hop back and forth between gens, if any of my friends really get into Destiny, I may grab the PS3 version as well to play with them

I know microsoft refused to allow gamming with sony (and i can understand their reasoning for such. I mean ive heard some rediculous things with games like borderlands 2) however i dont recall hearing microsft being against people from xb1 playing with those on xb360. However what i was getting at in my previous post is that cross generation (xb1-xb360 & ps3-ps4) wouldnt be hard to implement. Actually i do remember reading that whatever bungie employe was answering questions for the article that made me start this thread said that , it wasnt a technical issue holding them back they simply decided they werent persuing it.

Edited by bmatt17: 7/31/2014 8:16:26 AM
multiplayer between Xbox 360 and Xbox One not supported
It's in the tiny fine print on the very bottom So, choice on Bungies part to not support for PS, not possible on xbox

I feel thats more of a "cover their butts" statement since most multiplayer games are hosted by one persons console or another like gears of war , halo, and starcraft, and microsoft wouldnt want to shell out more to make compatability for old games work on their new system. However, if destiny were to be cross generation microsft wouldnt be supporting it bungie would with their money software and infrastructure.
