It's one of the main reasons I feel that games like Destiny and Halo should really look at Turn 10 and how Forza was set up for competition.
The video makes a good point on nerfing weapons and the real complaining and bemoaning Bungie is going to get between the competitive hardliners and PVE explores.
I like Forza. You strip your car down to match up with the level of the race. So if Im a RT car I need to drop down to a F to race with other Fs.
If I find a Legendary weapons then I should be going only into Legendary MP or make the choice for a lower grade weapon to match up with the other players running around with the same gear rating.
Bungie sounds like they know what they are doing but competitive MP is always like that know it all great grandmother bitching about how you drive. It's too fast, it's too slow, it's never good enough.

I'm definitely not looking forward to the inevitable Opinion-Palooza that will be the beta. Especially when it comes to Competitive Multiplayer. My personal goal is to not flip-a-sh*t on the first person to show up on b.net complaining that Destiny doesn't play exactly like Halo. There is going to be a lot of knee-jerk reactions both negative and positive and I don't want to be in the crossfire.

Edited by ectomort: 12/29/2013 8:04:43 PMindeed. the point of the Beta (from a game balance perspective) is for Bungie to gather statistically significant data so they can make necessary tweaks before shipping*; but most of what we'll see here in the Forums will be anecdotes and opinions. player passion is a double-edged weapon. *or at least identify any missing "control knobs" so they can tweak after ship.
Well, rooting out unexpected exploits and glitches is also important.
good point. even a single incident (anecdote) is useful for identifying that category of defect.
