Yes, conscription was dropped, particularly with the influence of Robert A. Heinlein's [i]Starship Troopers[/i], but while the act of conscripting men for the military may have been dropped, the agency that was set-up to organize the conscription of US male citizens still exists. The point of the thread here is to hear from people how they felt about registering with an outdated, and frankly pointless, agency that has little to no power anymore.
