I doubt it. If developers don't let me switch my saved file from Xbox MW2 to playstation, I doubt they'll let it happen here.
Now, what I want to know is if I buy a 360 version of Destiny, create a character and so forth, then I decide to buy the Xbox One and Destiny again, will my character transfer over. If so, I'll buy Destiny twice. Probably more than twice if they come out with a legendary edition.

The difference being, that's an actual save file. While a character in Destiny will be entirely hosted on Bungie's servers.

The cloud. I save my games in the cloud.

Eh, Infinity Ward is quite different than Bungie. Same goes for their IP's. Destiny is vastly different than COD.
-
Doesn't matter. I don't really think its up to the devs. It's up to the publishers. Activision has both Destiny and Cod in the palm of its hand.

Edited by ManBearPigIets: 8/2/2013 6:02:07 PMAre you retarded? Activision has no control over Destiny. That was one of the agreements they made with Bungie to be able to publish it, Bungie retains all creative control and all IP's associated with the game, Activision neither owns nor controls any part of it. It was one of the main reasons Bungie left microsoft, they wanted full control over their game. What rock are you living under?

Holy shit man. Chill out. No -blam!-ing need to call me retarded. Bungie obviously needs something from Activison, otherwise, why would they even need a publisher? Activision clearly has some say in things having to do with Destiny, especially when considering sales. Making your character transfer over from past-gen has nothing to do with "creative rights". It has to do with sales. And this conversation will be over very quickly unless you can keep your composure and talk like an adult. It doesn't have that much sting, I know. But I don't want brainless people who insult strangers to be in my somewhat intelligent conversations.

You are talking about a save file. That is console specific, and no way that can transfer. Player progression data is something different and can be stored on Bungies servers. Activision being the Publisher has nothing to do with this. Players being able to transfer player progression across multiple platforms only benefits Activision as it gives incentive for a player to buy multiple copies of the game, for multiple consoles. If a player is waiting to purchase a next gen, and there is no way to transfer, there is a risk that that player will not purchase multiple copies, and just wait till they purchase the next console, so as not to start from scratch. Keeping the option open to be more flexible with account transfers only increases sales.

I know this. That's what I said. But, just like achievements, your game progression should transfer too, no?

Edited by Sack Of Dongles: 8/2/2013 7:06:04 PMYes but there is a difference in the progression stored in a save file in a linear storyline game, and progression stored on an outside server. Like H3. Game progression in Single player was a save file, but multiplayer progression ( armor nameplates ect. ) were stored on Bungies servers. So no matter where you were your spartan looked the same. But if you went to a new console you would need to start a new campaign. As this is a live world, the missions are probably not too linear and it seems that the places can be returned to, so just keeping a log of the last mission that was completed in the story arc and the player's level/items would be enough to allow for a character to transfer. Things like Achievements and Trophies would not transfer as they are Console brand specific. Unless of course you pick up a console in the same brand and then there would be no issue. But I feel Bungie is less concerned with the achievements and trophies as they are very console specific, and really only there to keep loyalty to the console. They have stated they are trying to make Destiny console agnostic, so I really think they could care less about the Console specific stuff. ( well with the exception of possibly console exclusive items you might loose those in a transfer )
