Here's a discussion point that's not Divinity: Ward of Dawn

I raid a lot, so my PvE balancing is usually from the lens of raid content. In that lens, bubble is dogshit. There was a massive failure of understanding bubble's place in the meta when the change was made to reduce its damage bonus to 25%. Now it's just a worse Well of Radiance with no active protection. Now any solar subclass can throw out a melee and do exactly what bubble does. You want an overshield? Throw down a 40 second cooldown Bastion barricade, not a 7 minute super. The only thing bubble actually helps with nowadays is titan nuke builds with Wormgod's, generally a solo play/low man strategy. It doesn't even offer anything a normal void overshield from one of 3 other sources lacks. I've got 2 ideas to fix this. Either revert Weapons of Light's change so it's an appropriate complement to well like it was in year 3/4. Back then, the two supers worked together. Pop down the bubble for the higher damage bonus and the well for survivability. Or, just do what you did when you made Bastion into a budget Rift and do the same for bubble. Make it so being in proximity (NOT just inside) of the bubble recharges a void overshield, pauses the Weapons timer, and gives Rally Barricade buffs. Maybe make it a waist high ring around the bubble so there's some cover too. This gives bubble that active protection that makes Well objectively better. Here's a bonus third idea that no one's gonna like: Make Citan's work with bubble. Reduce its HP by whatever percentage the barricade's HP is reduced, and let us shoot through it. Don't know what that would do to PvP, don't care. Right now, it's just a fact of the matter that bubble offers nothing compared to a well, and even if the team is missing a well, any solar subclass can give the bonus bubble offers with less resource cost. The super needs help.

  • My two cents. Bubble should be unbreakable in pve. Combatants shooting the bubble should create orbs. Playing nightfalls in D1 with three bubble bros was probably the most fun playstyle. Like a creeping turtoise

    • Genius I’m down!! Your bubble changes are so cool. Would love to play a tactical void titan especially for warpreist and honestly the majority of kings fall it’s be a great thing to rotate to and from a well and compliment it. Opens up team structures. 👍🏽

    • They should have kept the two supers in one. Void titan is dog water. Other than the barricade. Having both supers made it somewhat viable.

      • Yeah bubble really needs some sort of rework, I can’t remember the last time I used in in endgame pve, well does everything bubble does but better and you can shoot out of it. It was useful with the higher damage buff but now it’s kinda pointless. Other than the damage buff it was only ever useful for clutch reses in GM content

      • Here’s a post I made about Sentinel in general I have been Sentinel since it’s been called Defender back in Destiny 1. This Subclass should be the definition of “[b][u]TANK[/u][/b]” and no other class should be able to take as much damage as the Sentinels. While it is also a tank class it is also a support class but not similar to the Dawnbreakers. Sentinels specialize in Over-Shields and currently Over-Shields are absolutely terrible and they offer little to no support in true end game activities. Sentinel Rework: Ward of Dawn: - Increase Armor of Light health - Remove Weapons of Light - Adds “Armaments of Light” Armaments of Light: The Ward of Dawn generates ammo for any ally that is inside of the Ward of Dawn. ( Every 10 seconds spawns a special brick, every 15 seconds spawns a heavy brick ) Replacing Weapons of Light with Armaments of Light would incentivize people to actually use Banner Shield and not be a liability at the same time. Banner Shield: - Increases damage boost to 50% up from 40% Sentinel Melee: - Shield Bash suppression actually works and the Over-Shield lasts until it is destroyed - Shield Toss Over-Shield lasts until it is destroyed - Adds another melee: Shield Pack Shield Pack: Charge this melee ability to toss an pack on the ground that provides allies with a Void Over-Shield. Over-Shield lasts until it is destroyed. Sentinel Class Ability: - Towering Barricade now absorbs damage and negates AoE - Rally Barricade now absorbs damage and negates AoE Bastion Aspect: - Casting your Super grants nearby allies a Void Over-Shield that lasts until it is destroyed - Void Over-Shields have increased strength - Casting your Barricade grants a Void-Overshield to yourself and neaby allies that lasts until it is destroyed and empowers it, enabling it to slowly regenerate the Void Over-Shield of allies bunkering behind it

      • Make is so instead of buffing weapon damage(which is a solar thing) make it so weapons of light gives weaken rounds and volatile rounds to all weapons. This maintains the identity of solar and void.

      • Don't worry when they nerf div everyone will be required to run 6 luminas/sniper/ linear Then they'll cry there's no diversity. I say for once give streamers their way so everyone can hate it and we can move past listening to anything they say.

          • Bubble should grant overshield to the player when leaving it imo. This way you have at least a small amount of protection when you leave the bubble, then you can tune the os strength to balance it and/or incorporate overshield regen into bubble for one of the aspects.

              • Bubble used to be good in D1 where enemies were actually dangerous but didn't have much health, therefore survival was more needed than pure dps

                The titan exotic arms that let you shoot through barricades should also let your shoot through bubbles. You wearing them and place a bubble = everyone can shoot through; someone else places a bubble = anyone wearing them can shoot through. This but still buff ward as well

                • I disagree. I’m not saying they couldn’t buff Ward of Dawn in some way, but it’s already pretty useful overall (even if though it’s not as good as Well), and I don’t think buffing WoL in any way is the appropriate way to buff it. In my eyes, Well of Radiance is a super rift, which means it’s meant for buffing allies and yourself. Bubble us a super barricade, which means it’s meant for blocking damage and giving other bonuses WHILE you’re “behind” it (which for a bubble means inside it). WoL can last for a little while after you leave, but the protection and refreshing the buff requires you to go back into the bubble and use it as a shield. My problem is more with how encounters are designed. There’s nothing that both requires one person to separate from the group at all to absorb aggro AND is lethal enough to warrant a “blocking” super. Most bosses can’t really have their aggro manipulated to target someone in a bubble, unless you go really close and they stomp you away and out of the bubble, so if they really do a ton of damage to you then you just have to use a Sentinel Shield with Ursa (a strategy that isn’t very necessary in most things nowadays anyway). For Golgoroth, one boss where you can manipulate aggro, it’s easy to just shoot his dart things as they travel to you, so there’s not really much danger that you’d want to block. I wish there were more ways to draw a boss’s attention to one person, and more bosses that threatened you with a lot of damage, so that the blocking feature of Ward of Dawn was more useable outside of solo content.

                • I agree. the Warlocks aren't in a good spot either. Raid content basically requires a Wellock because of how Boss DPS phases work now. I don't blame then either, and with how Ward doesn't allow you to shoot through it, there's no point in even having it if it does the same damage bonus as other solar subclasses.

                • I think the best solution is to remove the dmg buff from well so we go back to the old dynamic of well for survival and bubble for dmg. Teams could still time their radiant buffs if they don't have a titan so bubble wouldn't feel mandatory like it did in d1.

                  • As a warlock main I'd love to have the old bubble + well combo. I don't even know why they nerfed bubble since I thought having itfor damage and well for survivability was a good strategy. Plus, in normal raids where survivability is not AS important, I'd love to run something except well all the time.

                  • Citans with Bubble in PVE should've been a thing a long time ago. That exotic is useless in PVE. It'd instantly become one of the best niche PVE exotics in the game. I
