I don’t care what the method of the matchmaking is - to play PvP users should have a contain standard internet connection. The poor connections w/ users bouncing all over the map &/or disconnecting for the match completely is killing PvP. I’m not even hating being matched with players that are at my skill level. I don’t care if matches are sweaty- it’ll just improve my skill. But there needs to be a base standard internet connection quality prior to entering & playing PvP - because the piss poor connections & people leaving matches makes PvP in S18 absolutely horrible. I feel like 2/3 of my games one team loses 1-2 players on their team & the other team just rolls over them.

It’s the servers+crossplay. Bungies servers are crap, plus crossplay slows things down resulting in horrible connections.
nibbles crayon
1 ReplyI think the problem is slightly less low quality internet, since the speed requirement is borderline impossible nowadays to miss, and most setups have enough consistent stability to run. It's more a three-fold problem: 1. Cross Play, at least between PS and Xbox seems to have communication issues. 2. Peer to Peer is a naturally Volitale networking system. 3. There's no hard region lock under any circumstance.

1 ReplyEdited by Hupakko: 9/11/2022 3:49:30 PMThere was lots of lag previous seasons with CBMM and also this week in IB (which still is CBMM). Lag started to happen much more after they implemented cross play. Which makes me feel and assume that their cross play netcode is not really great.

1 ReplyJust pick another playlist activity and stop whining. Also, it's never been CBMM it was random matchmaking according to devs. Maybe don't play in a 6 stack and things might be better. Playing solo I notice a normal amount of destiny lag. Most of the lag is from trying to match groups up.

It’s almost always a bigger problem with Bungie’s P2P servers than individual internet connections. Putting this game on a P2P framework was Bungie’s biggest mistake. They went cheap and they’ve been paying for it ever since.

4 RepliesEdited by SaltieSeaTurtlez: 9/11/2022 2:38:22 PMYeah ok sure this is a great idea let them do that we will see the pvp population plummet even further. So many people pay for good internet and get screwed by they're isp. So I guess that's they're fault too huh? What a joke. Some people can't even get fiber optic yet in they're town. So I guess that's they're fault as well. Smh. What a joke I can tell mommy and daddy pay your bills.

When I see a player teleporting or taking no damage, it's usually because they're on xbox (I'm PS5) My PvP experience went downhill rapidly with the introduction of crossplay. Either that or I'm in a lobby with players from another continent. -
The rubber- banding during melees has just gotten absurd. I've been getting killed by invisible bullets from ppl who are on the other side of the map. Shooting at one guy who is clearly on my screen, then the kill feed shows I got shotgunned by another guy, who wasn't anywhere on my radar or screen... it's laughable at this point

Australia ain’t gonna like this

They can require all the high connection speeds and low ping as they want. It won’t matter if they don’t fix their cross play code. At least for console players.

4 RepliesEdited by jefedemuchanina: 9/11/2022 3:58:47 AMDedicated servers , if your game has sbmm and peer to peer servers then it's a joke. There exactly 0 correct calculations of skill when there's a buffer between players.
-
2 RepliesNo? Dedicated servers and an actual healthy player base are needed for SBMM. Not this ancient peer to peer mm system. Will never work properly with sbmm on. Also SBMM belongs in competitive games, not in casual pve looter shooters with a tiny abandoned pvp portion. That's not an opinion, it's facts.
-
6 RepliesAccording to this forum lag doesn't exist and is just a made up excuse used by elites to get rid of sbmm
-
7 RepliesEdited by RabbitEars: 9/11/2022 3:21:01 PMNever had any issues with lag yet. I had a ton of it during cbmm tho.

9 RepliesUnfortunately tough -blam- i have to make do with what my family can afford and it’s staying downstairs parents house parents rules.

Pretty much agree with everything you mention, I mean today in crucible has been crazy, I feel like I'm playing a GM version of Crucible, where the some of the people I'm playing against are like the teleporting overlords
-
Here is the simple solution. SBMM causes smaller matchmaking potential for people which means further distances and higher pings. Make console and pc play with each other and make it required. This opens up more people and closer distances to play with.
-
3 RepliesIt's 2022, you have to try to have a bad internet connection. It's their servers, or lack there of.
-
It's not as much connection as you think. Non regional mm is imo worse. My lobbies are filled with the middle East + Russia, so they're 5000 miles away from me, even on fibre I'm seeing pings over 500 to those players
-
Yes sir sbmm is amazing I'm having a blast.
-
5 RepliesIB isn't sbmm. Or if it is I very much missed them stating so. And today there were several times I was up against people who were lagging to hell. Removing sbmm isn't going to solve the problem.

6 RepliesSo far, i -blam!- hate SBMM. I played three games. The first, the entire enemy team left. The second was ok. The third my entire team left. This -blam!- is breaking the pvp experience for me. Thank god for kings fall. It rekindled my thirst for raiding.

8 RepliesEdited by Tigerpaws: 9/10/2022 11:39:23 PMIB is the most Impossible laggy dump that exists. Shooting people and registering no damage and bring shot by someone who ISN'T EVEN ON MY SCREEN YET! no thanks. Its not worth it.
-
The problem is on bungies end. They chose to have poor quality cheap servers. Peer to peer connections. Yet you like Bungie blame the players. Wow this game should just throw pvp in the trash can where it belongs if your all not gonna fix your game then just scrap it. It's in a bad state and thats a fact jack.

Even if we had dedicated servers people would still say sbmm causes lag. It’s just life
