It would be great if Raid Exotics had a guaranteed route to obtaining it

This stems from my own experience, but I know it’s not just mine. I feel really bummed out when I do so many runs of a raid, to the point of almost burning out on it, just to keep trying to get something that I may or may not get. Yesterday, after my 50th clear of Vow of the Disciple, I got Collective Obligation, the Exotic Pulse from Vow. To frame how I look at it, I had the Disciple-Slayer title before my 30th run. It was very frustrating to continue to need to do the raid multiple times every week in pursuit of a single item. Luckily, I loved Vow so it was not a chore, but it still didn’t feel good to go back every week because it felt out of Obligation (pun) rather than something to enjoy. I’d really like it if the Raid Exotics could be tied to something tangible and guaranteed you can work towards (in addition to the chance drop). In an ideal situation, maybe if you complete the raid seal, you get the Exotic. I’d be hard pressed to say it wasn’t “earned” at that point as you have tackled all the raid was intended to offer. In addition, a few seasons after release, it’s harder (not impossible) to find groups for non-current raids, and usually the people you find are trying to get the Exotic like you are. Tl;DR It feels really bad to have completed all the challenges a given raid has and to after all is said and done, still need to grind it relentlessly for a tiny chance at an item that’s never guaranteed.

  • I think I'm about to become one of those people with 100 clears of VoG and don't have Vex but with Touch of Malice

    • Agreed. I always preferred the quest we got for the raid exotics.

    • Bungie: "Okay. We'll give you a counter that guarantees the exotic when you get it to 100%. Each Raid clear has a chance to give you 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% progress".

    • No, that feeling of getting it to drop is amazing. But I do think your drop chance should increase over time based on clears. Or it should be a guaranteed drop that goes to a random player on the fireteam, but first selection are those who do not have it.

    • nope its what kills a raid Look at garden ,least raid played and the raid no one know how to do because they have 1 or 2 run and got divinity Or they could go the other way and make the requirement be to do master and now most casuals raider can't get it anymore

    • It's the carrot on the stick, while it can be incredibly frustrating it does need to exist for the sake of replay sake. They should offer drop protection just so It's not something ridiculous like 50+ clears. Just gotta hit a middle ground and find a good balance

      • "Would be great"??? It is an absolute insult that an actual weapon is locked behind such an elitist weekly rng crap system. Weapons should never feel unobtainable to anyone. They just get away with it, so they keep doing it. Simple as that. The weekly farmable rewards should be entirely cosmetic. A unique raid sparrow, ghost and/or ship, a rare animated shader or even super cool and unique RARE emblems. Make those cosmetics super rare and actually desirable by looking awesome. THOSE type of rewards can be locked by nuts rng. But useful weapons that can potentially define metas? Nah. But hey it's Bungie at the end of the day, they try everything to milk the last bit of playtime out of their players and those players actually give them what they want. Completely waste their time by farming a stupid raid boss cp for months and months every single week. Garbage game design.

        • Not only the exotic weapon, every piece of raid gear should be available for spoils or some sort of raid-specific currency. One of the biggest issues with this game is the unrewarding 'rng' system. Doing a raid and getting the same piece of gear 4 times in the same run shouldn't be possible but it is all too common. It takes away from the victory when you get the same piece of gear for the fourth time on the last boss. Bungie uses their 'rng' system to increase player time by holding out on specific pieces of gear. They will drop a few here and there to show people it is possible to get but the chances can be abysmal for most people. The 'rng' is in every element of the game too. I swear every single raid my class item is the last thing to drop after many raid clears. I rarely get a good roll on the weapons and the crafting system is a slog. 36 VoG runs to get my Vex just feels bad and many people had to do more runs than that.

        • Community don't understand one simple thing. If Bungie will make exotics guaranteed drop, those exotics will be completely useless. Because Bungie will not make those exotics any good for using. I mean look at Collective obligation, I used it for 10 or so minutes, and realised its don't worth to take exotic slot and put it in a vault. My opinion exotics should be hard to get, but those exotics should be really good.

          • The fact is, this is a video game, you play it for fun. If you're not having fun, you're playing the wrong game. RNG is fine, the issue is people hating the game but still playing it for the dopamine do from loot drops. Issue is, if it comes that easy, people will demand even more loot all the time. Gotta cap it somewhere. Can't just give game breaking lot away every 15 minutes. Do the raids, make friends. Chill out. Raid exotics aren't that good anyway lol

          • That would defeat the purpose of RNG, and Destiny being a looter shooter. May seem harsh, but Destiny's gameplay wasn't designed for the casual, couple hours a week, weekend warrior types. The whole purpose of the game is the repetitive grind - which leads into this game being about not what you play, but who you play with. My vote goes to keeping it the way it is, and this is coming from someone that took 27 clears to get EoT, 60 clears for Collective, 24 for Anarchy, and 58 for No Time to Explain. You win some, you lose some. And for people comparing it to D1, remember, it's a different game - hell, even the storyline was retconned and made different for social reasons. If we went back to the old days, then you'd have a lot more complaints, like how infrequent the public events were, having to get Bones in order to get a decent jump, and lest we forget, D1 was much more hardcore than D2.

I love rng raid exotic. Its the last rng gun you can earn in this game. Every other gun is just a season weapon or guaranteed drop. The moment of anticipation when the boss dies and the chest appears is literally one of the best moments in the game. I fully understand hating waiting week after week clear after clear. But the truth is the moment when you get the gun will feel better than ever using the gun. I got touch clear 2. I got eyes clear 3 but it also took my 5 months to get vex(in d1) and didnt get tarabbah until 2 days before the raid was removed. So i have been on both ends of the this. Quest exotics are so boring and we need atleast one rng exotic weapon in the game, and the raid is the perfect place for it.

              • Raid exotics should always be rng, the only reason Divinity wasn't is because of what the gun does, people would through tantrums if they didn't get the gun immediately and lfg's would post div or kick (I also agree Divinity should be nerfed/changed, it's the new Anarchy). I do however think they should incorporate the Duality exotic drop rates increasing by doing Triumphs.

              • Agreed. At least increase chance of obtaining each completion. Even if it’s as small as 1% chance increase at least players are making progress. No sense of ‘earning’ something that is RNG based, it’s luck and not skill based. Bad luck protection was put in place to help those that RNG craps on. Need to add it for most exotics that are raid based.

              • No you do raids for the weapons an armor. We don't need an additional exotic drop chance to skew your drop chances of something you actually wanted. It was okay in d1 but I don't need an exotic to drop with a low stat drop. Especially with how many -blam!- exotics are in the game. That imo if an exotic js -blam!- it needs a rework.

                • I am so SOLO I don't even know about Raid Exotics.(sad) Actually, the funny thing is if dang deeper there is somewhat possibly a legal ground against Destiny Drops. For example when buying expansion or season or etc. All items are paid for. However, you can't get some items without completing a Raid. Now is this in terms of the agreement? But legally there should be a statement that says that co-op or whatever is required to get something such as Raid gear as it can't be completed solo. Also not getting this gear is not a choice by the player but the inability to complete a co-op or even the game NOT offering the tools to co-op in this activity. So in short yes there should be a route to obtain exotics for NOT just Raid teams but for everyone, especially if the Raid exotic is OLD.

                • yeah they should add a 100% drop rate when: you have at least 25 full looted runs, flawless+ raid title
