From the Red War up to Foresaken and even beyond?
I read some feedback on Reddit where a lot of people would love to replay (or even some who never played) the old campaign missions with a Legendary mode.
You could even put them in the Legends destination along with Vault of Glass & King’s Fall from Destiny 1.

2 RepliesPerhaps not in the game currently due to technical restraints. However, a stand-alone game title with the sunset campaigns and destinations etc could be an idea? That way it doesn’t cause issues for the current game and anyone new or even a seasoned vet who wants to go back and replay previous content (especially the base campaign as it would better explain the story of D2 etc) would have the option of loading up that game and replay then jump into D2 and continue on. I’d have to imagine the cut content wouldn’t be as large as the current game.

Edited by BOSSNONO254: 9/10/2022 4:20:47 AMI’ve always thought that maybe Bungie would add another tab to toggle with. Which would be named legacies, consisting of all the old campaigns and their destinations. I know right now it may be far fetched and possibly irrelevant. But since Bungie announced that sunsetting would be over, and that Destiny should be a game to be enjoyed for years to come. Then it makes sense to eventually add the older campaigns with their own section /tab on the map. I’m pretty sure new/older players will love this addition. Not to mention having a legendary mode added to each campaign, with exclusive rewards for those who are looking for the kind of content that they are familiar with to run, but don’t know if it’ll be worth attempting. At least this addition would give these campaigns a reason for older existing players to log in and load them up to try and complete them.

If this happened I would want it to the have the legendary option like witch queen that was so fun to run through.

1 ReplyNo. Love DMG_04

2 RepliesNotice its only the Activision content that got cut, so was probably some legal thing they had to do.
-
Definitely never should have left in the first place. D1 you could select any mission from any location and replay it. So why not add it with Legendary option!!

I was listening to 'Forge Ahead' from the D2 soundtrack the other day and it brought back fond memories of the 1AU mission and the epic feel it had. I'd love to go back and re-run the campaign, however it'll sadly never happen because Bungie aren't competent enough to optimise their content and retain it at a manageable size (like every other developer) and they won't devote the time to figuring it out because they already have their eyes on the two year deadline when they can finally wash their hands of Destiny and move onto the next cash cow. Expect maybe the odd recycled area or musical cue to appear as 'seasonal' content, but other than that don't even dare to hope.

No Love, DMG
stole this from another post, but it’s too funny not to do it
Edited by Dubufu: 9/9/2022 6:06:28 AMI find it funny that the quest archive Kiosk has been in the tower for nearly a year and it still has...nothing in it - or at least nothing worthwhile. I bet a new-light player could get a lot context of from the Red War campaign - especially since it easily transitions into Forsaken (Giving them a reason to like Cayde instead of going into a story that obviously kills him off in the first mission lol) Plus it would only bolster the free to play experience with more content.

3 Replies"Guardian, we hear you. But we hate Cayde for some reason and wanna wash away all memory of him." - Bungie

Should add sunset campaigns to that Roadmap thing. You can play through all the key missions (minus the filler missions filled with grinding for useless materials).
-
Bungie - we hear you guardian so we’re going to add even more cosmetics to the eververse store

Great idea!

Edited by The Rat King: 9/8/2022 2:00:09 PMSort of wish the game would be in a state where they had a base game that was the red war(or at the very least modify the red war and new light experiences together) and then from there just continually add on. While I do like your idea I don’t see it getting implemented in the near future but who knows. I believe it’s more likely for Bungie to finish the story to the Final Shape and then try and revamp the experience for new players and make it so that the player chooses which DLCs to download or get rid of on their own rather than the content vault, which in theory and so far, I haven’t had too many complaints about.

3 RepliesYup add it back in. They need to do something if they ever want my dollar again. I paid for that for them to take it away, say their game is FREE TO PLAY, then put the entire game behind a season pass pay wall.

But it has to be free.

4 RepliesEdited by Scratch: 9/8/2022 12:22:49 AMI think once something you paid for goes into the Destiny Reclaimed Asset Vau....er.....I...*ahem*...I mean the "Destiny Content Vault" the only way you'll get to play it again is when they retexture it then sell it back to you. Take the Derelict Leviathan for example That once was a raid we paid for before it was put in the Destiny Reclaimed As... *ahem*... the "Destiny Content Vault" and 'spruced up'. Now it's a totally 'new' area. (which wouldn't be the kick in the balls it is if we could still play the raid) Or Mars I thought I'd never play on the original Mars again, once it was put in the Destiny Reclaim....*ahem* the "Destiny Content Vault" but we got to this season! Oh, my bad that's not the Mars Lost Sector I used to own, look, it's a totally different texture. (which wouldn't be the kick in the balls it is if original Mars was still a playable location) Maybe, one day we'll get to go back to IO Wouldn't that be neat! Although if it does return from the Destiny Reclaimed Assets.... *ahem* "Destiny Content Vault" it will probably be purple and called Pluto. (which would just be a kick in the balls) So don't worry, areas from Red War and Forsaken will be back, the kick in the balls will be they won't return as the Red War or Forsaken campaign.

12 RepliesThey've stated before once the game gets too big in size it becomes difficult to update.
-
1 ReplyI can’t imagine that ever happening. All those missions are on now vaulted planets. Unless their intent is to those planets back. But i can’t see that happening considering them being lost to the darkness. (Although technically a bit of Mars came back). It is a shame though. Because I can imagine New Lights have zero idea of what’s going on with very little context. And to be frank. If I started destiny now? I’d prob uninstall due to confusion and not knowing what anything is

I feel like the best thing to do is just make a playlist like how they have the legends playlist tab put the campaigns in the same thing and just put the missions in order like how they do the difficulty tab so you click the border and select the mission and the cutscenes between missions just have them play after you complete that mission if there is one that normally comes after and let us have that because damnit I wanna see caydes chicken again
-
From a narrative point of view, it would make sense for those just joining the game and when you combine all the story campaign missions that was sunset it adds more depth to the experience.
