Bungie cannot defend forcing people into such bad lobbies. The worst pvp experience I ever have.

18 RepliesMy guy please don't blame sbmm this has been a continued problem no matter the matchmaking.
-
2 RepliesIt’s the worst I’ve seen it in 7 years. Makes the game unplayable.
-
3 RepliesWait time and issues are exactly the same in IB and it’s CBMM.
-
Edited by kime: 9/9/2022 5:59:00 PMI actually haven't seen the issues you are talking about and I played a lot since sbmm was re-introduced
-
lol it’s not becuase sbmm it’s becuase we have peer to peer connections stop blaming sbmm for everything
-
Bungie cannot defend forcing people into such bad lobbies. The worst pvp experience I ever have.
Cbmm had as many if not more complaints It’s only a silly game dude
-
I feel like every game I play one of the teams has 1-2 players leave and then the opposite team just runs over them. PvP in S18 sucks.
-
Cutting your neighbour’s grass - inexcusable Wearing a diaper whilst playing - inexcusable Connection issues with SBMM - Meh
-
1 ReplyChill out. Bungie just relaxed the matchmaking to allow for better connections. SBMM should still protect New Lights and hopeless PVP players while also allowing for more stable connections at the high end of things.
-
3 RepliesI completely suck at PvP I wont deny it but for years I've read these forums and every time they implement SBMM ppl cry about it, Bungie then revert back to CBMM and ppl cry about it. They can't win. I do think its their own making with not investing in dedicated servers but we have what we have. The easiest answer is just take out PvP altogether problem solved.

It is terrible.

7 RepliesApparently they're already making a secret retreat to CBMM. https://twitter.com/bungiehelp/status/1567596880082911232

1 ReplySBMM/CBMM have nothing to do with the actual stability of the "servers", its just for match making. Blame bungies sheer greediness in using "hybrid servers" rather than taking the time and investing in dedicated servers.
-
1 ReplyI clipped a video of me chasing someone in ib and literally whiffing 6 melee lunges
-
1 ReplyIts okay, the majority are having a better time, even if they're casual PvP players who hardly play for the most part anyway. A new friend put it the best way I've heard, "Bungie catered to a playerbase that isn't loyal to the game.". Yes they most certainly did.
-
Its been very bad, but it was a lot better yesterday. I hope Bungie continues and then completely loosen up SBMM.
-
A current problem old as D1 that will never get fixed..Bungie obviously could care less if ppl have a horrible time playing with teleporting players and awful hit detection, just respawn again that's why we have awful respawning as well..enjoy

1 ReplyBungie has released a statement (I currently lack a source, may update soon) that they intend to better the matchmaking system to seek further for players, decreasing distance and the potential skill gap. SBMM has been a god-send for a lot of players who do not like getting matched with 50-bomb grinders, but the connection issue is a problem I and my friends have run into (and thus joked about).
-
4 RepliesI’ve felt like instead of loose SBMM we got loose CBMM. Feels like connection is the afterthought here. Think their formula needs tweaking. The lobby balancing still seems to need work also. Before Bungie go implementing quitter penalties, they need to make sure MM is giving solid connections, even if we have to wait longer, and get rid of join in progress. Call me crazy, but I’m not interested in queuing into a match that’s more than half done and the enemy team all have supers, or staying in a game where the connection is obviously in an unfit state.

14 RepliesEdited by StoopidPakalolo9: 9/8/2022 12:28:20 PMNo connection issues at all(for me). Bungie forced ppl to play against their skill level, oh no horrible Bungie

Edited by Burma Jones: 9/7/2022 10:50:39 PMI have to agree. Their networking is exceptionally and uniquely terrible. I haven't seen any improvement in teams or matches either. I'm stuck trying to carry people who can't even reach 1.0 kdr, struggling to maintain 2.0+ myself, and the enemy team has everyone above 1.0 and a player or maybe two with 3, 4, 5+ kdr. Exactly like last season except now the matches take longer to find and lag even worse. At the end of the day pvp will always suck unless ALL of these are fixed: Player base is too small Networking (tick rate especially) is ridiculously bad Aim assist and lag interpol are way too high (to compensate for the above) Bloom is way too extreme and present (to compensate for the above) Map design is based on 8 players not 12 CBMM, SBMM, freelance, rotating modes, Bungie can do whatever they want. Networking is trash and nobody wants to play crucible these days. They need to overhaul their networking and pvp entirely. So in other words, pvp will ALWAYS be terrible in this game. Bungie cares more about profit margin and saving face than making Destiny a better game therefore they will never acknowledge or fix the massive fundamental issues in pvp. And even if they did fix networking, spawn system and map design, then there are still other big issues that would need to be fixed to get a bigger player base. For example: the game generally being geared way more around loadout than skill or player execution; loot being really bad in every activity especially crucible; too many weapon types and sub types leading to specialized roles with guns which leads to rigid, boring metas dictated by patch notes rather than player action; etc. And even if they grow the player base (unlikely) for a game this old (extra unlikely), then they'd for the first time have enough players and data to actually judge their matchmaking system and would probably need to overhaul that too.

Sbmm is a dumpster fire. Just don’t play sbmm playlists anymore. Let the playlist die like elim and comp.
-
3 RepliesI don’t care that I’m facing better opponents but when that person lives in a different country it’s an issue IMO... theirs no way I should be matching people in Japan when I’m in Canada...

1 ReplyThere has never been and never will been a system in this game that judges a players connection quality. Never. Where you live… the connection based match making took ALL OF 30 seconds looking in a hundreds of miles circle of where you are… then connected anybody to get a game going. Never once judging the quality of connections. Cbmm or sbmm… there has always been players lagging. The forums are proof of this because people always complained… The argument is mute because it never provided quality connections. Cbmm would be better translated to fast lobby making. That is it.

The lag has increased significantly and it will get worse. You focus on skill instead of connections and the game gets worse. On top of that, Crossplay was a hot mess since it came out. P2P with crossplay was a dumb move and now we add.to that the removal of matching with people to optimize and reduce connection issues and it was the perfect combination for horrible laggy matches. The SBMM is a big L. People who say otherwise are blind to it.
