Please spawn ruffians earlier in expedition.

Getting ruffians to spawn for the title is almost impossible. We need 50 ruffian kills and I'm at 3 with multiple completions. With random players, it almost impossible to get them to spawn since the treasure haul is near 80% when they do and players will continue to thrown treasure into the haul. You have to actively throw away the treasures to attempt to get ruffian kills. It seems as if maybe bungie spawns them in too late. Maybe make them spawn at the jammer instead so we can at least get 1-2 per run at minimum. The way it's set up now is counter productive to completing an expedition.

  • agree. I needed to watch a yt-video to find out, that they exist, as we were always way too fast with the objective and never saw one....

    • They spawn at 60% - if you go above that, they no show, so you have to pause for about 10 seconds once you hit it - another will spawn at 90% as well. The problem is these blueberries don't pay attention, and just toss ball after ball. So, I make it a point to throw half of them across the map. I've only had one catch on, and started doing the same and letting me throw just enough balls for the ruffian to spawn in, but we were only able to get 3 per round...it's supposed to be 4 from what I'm reading

      I agree. I've played about 20 expeditions by now and I've found myself purposely avoiding the objective and other players tossing the treasures away. This is, needless to say, a problem. There should never be a gameplay mechanic or reward which influences players to [b]not[/b] work toward the objective. I'm not entirely sure what the best solution would be, but I do like your idea about the jammer. Having them spawn as soon as the jammer is destroyed would at least [b]guarantee[/b] two ruffians per run, so 25 runs at least for the triumph. That's reasonable. The only potential downside is that this might influence players to not head over to the jammer and instead wait at the drill site for the ruffian kill. This would probably prevent those who destroy the jammer from getting the ruffian kill which isn't fair for those playing the objective. Alternatively if none of this is possible, maybe the triumph can simply have it's kill requirement reduced. Or better yet just have it removed from the seal entirely. Who knows? Hopefully something is changed because this may end up being one seal I don't bother with. I've made it a point to acquire each seasonal seal, but I have no desire to grind out this activity with a fireteam. That just sounds a little ridiculous to me.

      • JW, is this Throw away treasure mechanic to spawn Ruffians even mentioned anywhere? I didn't not know this until now. If it is, maybe make it more noticeable for everyone, If it isn't... Perhaps they should mention it somewhere.

      • The problem is they have to be triggered to spawn(at a certain %) And then despawn when you go past a certain %. And none of this is explained in game. Nobody knows about it. So nobody will pay it any mind.

        • I only try to run expeditions with 2 freinds. Only way to get ruffians everytime. Get 3 each time guarenteed since we stop at 86-93% full and wait 20 seconds for 1-2 to spawn at the first site then wait at the second for whats left for 3 ruffians. Running solo = 0 ruffians since people fill up the transport asap

        • At the same time make the seasonal challenges for the Repute not require a fight in ketchcrash. Make it 50, but all team members count. This is -blam!- having to fight people for scorch cannons

        • When will people realise its deliberate? It will keep everyone grinding the seasonal activity for longer as they chase the seal. Bungie can pretend that its "content" along with those reskinned lost sectors masquerading as Pirate Lairs.

        • Yeah, the Ruffians are definitely a problem. In just my last 10 Expedition runs I've only gotten 4 Ruffian kills at most because their spawn rate seems incredibly late or inconsistent. Honestly, I'd be fine if Ruffians completely removed the ability to dunk the engrams in until they're killed, but spawning them at the jammer is also a great idea.

              Have the Ruffians spawn halfway through the haul (acting like a Jammer) rather than at the end where players can easily miss them due to ... playing the objective.

            • Agreed, it takes like 2-3minutes of waiting for them to spawn (which at that point you are already done loading up the payload).

            • I'm the guy who now throws as much treasure away from my team as possible. Bungie actively encourage this kind of thing by being so out of touch with the playerbase that they think the absurd number of kills we need combined with the fact its tied to a TIMER, is fun.

              I rarely ever see them when I match make with randoms. I have seen as many as five when I go in with a group trying to get them. It seems extremely random at getting more than 2 per run though even with a group.

                • anymore I just bypass matchmaking and go in solo, and play it. might take longer but at least getting kills and doing bounties.

                  • I think I’m close to 50 expeditions, almost at half the ruffians needed at 23. They are quite inconsistent, sometimes not spawning at all if you fill the haul to fast. The main “problem” is there are two objectives contradicting with each other, first gather treasure. Second is the ruffians triumph. It’s frustrating and almost feels like sabotage when the other guardian is going for the other objective than you. That being said, I might still be doing expeditions after I’ve completed ruffian triumph for red border weapons.

                  • After running it multiple times this week on my 3 characters, it's very messed up with respect to the Ruffian Spawning in this week. Many times the Ruffian doesn't even show up at all. Secondly, if they do, Drifter is not announcing it or is announcing it very late. Lastly, several times he announces their arrival and within 10 seconds they despawn away. So I don't know what Bungle has done, but it's seriously broken this week.

                  • I agree. Problem #1: There are two competing triumphs to get the title. One: Collect as much treasure as possible. Two: Slow down and avoid collecting treasure so the Ruffian spawns in time to kill it before the treasure hauler moves. Problem #2: I don't think a large percent of the player base even knows about Ruffians and/or doesn't care. When I do manage to get a Ruffian to spawn, they don't shoot at it. There is no reward for killing them and a lot of players are sick of Barrier Champions, so if they're not going for the title, why bother? I've had better luck killing Ruffians when I land in an Expedition alone. I quickly kill yellow bars, collect 1-2 pieces of treasure, hop back to my hiding place, repeat, and the Ruffians arrives. I kill the Ruffian and then collect treasure like mad. Teammates arrive and we continue without killing any more Ruffians.

                  • What makes it worse is most people are doing that glitch to use the same orb over and over so it gets done in 10 seconds
