The weekly challenges for Gambit (and other activities in the game) have usually not been retroactive. I don't know if they are this season because I haven't bothered with Gambit because of that. If you don't mind Gambit or want the weekly pinnacle or Bright Dust, then playing weekly is no problem.
But if it's just something that makes you grit your teeth while you just try to knock out the challenges, remember that in the final week there is usually some big boost to your Gambit XP so you can level up faster, and all your accomplishments will actually be counted. Plus if you have the season pass all your experience boosters will be in place by then. You can then fulfill all the challenges in one go.
All the weekly challenges should be retroactive but often aren't. That really needs to change.

Yeah I stayed in gambit all week. reset my infamy 3x. Got like 40+ engrams. I have zero legendary shards 😭 My favorite legendary smg is borrowed time. Going for a certain roll. and possibly a surplus/explosive payload bottom dollar

Depends on what you want out of gambit. Remember that more resets means more perks on your gambit weapons. Which also means that if Xur ever brings a gambit weapon, you get multiple perks on each column. (Again, depends on the number of resets). So, if you are looking for a god-roll gambit weapon, I think the best way to achieve that would be to play gambit on all the double XP weeks. That way you get the most ranks while also completing the challenges on the side.

When it's double gambit rep it's not that bad to plow through one reset. You get 500 rep a win when you're rolling with the streak which burns through ranks. I rather get one reset out of the way as fast as possible then chill and do the other challenges here or there until the end.
-
While it's definitely more efficient to do most of them towards the end of the season, you also have the ornament challenge which requires nearly 2 full rank resets to acquire. Unless you actively skip that one (I know I have been), then it may actually be better to play a little bit of Gambit every week even if you don't play more than maybe 10 matches a week.

Yeah man I just wait till the end.
-
2 RepliesOr just play gambit because its fun
-
I did this last season and I was so glad I did it. Completing the challenges helped me top off lv 100 and get more bright dust.

Edited by LocoToopa: 9/6/2022 7:11:55 PMBeen doing that for ages ever since seasonal challenges were a thing. CBA getting the ornament thingy so that one doesn't matter 👍

Edited by magister1001: 9/7/2022 4:02:32 AMI reckon wait for festival of the lost. That will have its own grind mechanism that will need strikes crucible and gambit. Solstice you had to do a ridiculous number of gambit or crucible matches (25) so I’m not making that mistake again and doing it early. I’m focusing on raid, the seasonal stuff and +2 pinnacles until at 1580 (will keep doing 1 dare/char/week for red border chance) and gm when it comes out until then. …. The ability to delay gratification is what separates humans from animals.

18 RepliesWhat is the actual reason people don't like gambit? I can't pin it. It's been pretty fun lately.
-
That's why they made Yesteryear... To encourage us to grind gambit early as well
-
5 RepliesI’ve been grinding for that god roll yesteryear with desperado I’m on my third reset I hate my life Pray for me
-
Sunset gambit

If it's double XP, I play it a lot. That applies to any activity though. Then i don't have to grind 2x as long. Except crucible. I can only do that in small doses or I pull all my hair out and snap my Controller in half.

I gilded and knocked out three resets during double exp, seemed easier than waiting till the last minute

6 RepliesAnd what do you suggest we play instead? A different game? I like loot! Double XP, 2 resets, seasonal weapon, ornament and a bunch of stuff. A Bottom Dollar with Explosive Payload that can shoot a mile and a new Servant Leader god roll with Outlaw/Killclip. Everyone has their own theory on how to play Destiny. Ignoring 2 XP makes no sense in a game that requires you to grind for most accomplishments. Plus, all my Gambit weapons now drop with more mod options. And if you are a fan of Gambit and I am, this is a win win situation. Enjoy your day.

1 ReplyI've learned from past mistakes and decided that it's actually best to play Gambit early in the season. Make use of the double rep weeks when they show up. There will always be a challenge for getting the Ritual Weapon's Gambit ornament, which takes 19000 rep. Leaving it all until the last week or two and realising just how much you have to play is misery.
-
I just grind out a full reset during double Gambit rank week. Then I take a break until the next one. Then I’ll grind out the ornament. Prime strats right there!
-
If you're going for PL 1600 I would advise against this.
-
Probably more worth playing each time it's double XP, like it was this week until today. Games are OK, better than Strikes and Seasonal activities, can rank up at a comfortable place. Also bagged a godroll Yesteryear at the same time.
-
We've had double Gambit ranks for the last week. I just played to get the snakeskin shader and completed two seasonal challenges. It took four games, plus three last week. The games were good, too, because there was a bigger pool of people playing. I had fun and I've been burned out on Gambit since earning the title when it was new.

Gambit can be horrible solo but really it's not terrible. I choose to do Gambit in the early morning 5am-7am ish. It seems to be a little more chill.
-
4 RepliesGambit is great.
-
Nah, I will take my XP now thank you

Yup, some challenges being retroactive and some not is terrible. So many times I've masterworked a piece of armour only for the challenge to pop up a few weeks later uncompleted.
