Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the light
For too long now have we been slowly drifting towards the path of the darkness. As we push the boundaries of what we can do further and further, I cannot but be reminded of the thousands who fell to Crota’s, the hopecrusher’s, blade as he used the same resource we now seek. First we have begun to use stasis, which while it in itself is not wholeheartedly believed to be an act of evil, there have been though who have committed atrocities to achieve such powers. Such as the guardian Trestin who tortured civilians of house of Salvation, as well as her own fireteam when they tried to intervene, to obtain such power. Then we are to use strand, a ability that admittedly we know little about so far. So while some may theorize that the darkness is rooted in the power consciousness or in the form of shapes, I still cannot but fear that such power is insidious in use. Such powers have been advertised by others as the solution to all of our problems. With the potent potential the darkness offers we will stand against all odds that are stacked against us. But I might interject and ask the following; what use will the darkness be against the Witness, who in his ruinous sorcery posses the mastery over such forces?
Then how shall we combat our enemies without the assistance of dark based powers? I would simply suggest a power that is deeply familiar to us yet we find ourselves slipping away from its warmth, the light. Our faith in the Traveler has dwindled ever since we lost our speaker to commune with it. He was a guide of sorts. He spoke to the city of the hope and joy shared by those men, women, and children who, through the help of the Pilgrim Guard amongst others, were brought beneath the traveler after our collapse. Lately those positive emotions towards to the light have stopped, and the children are frightened anyways. The long dark has closed around us, begrudgingly or not, we are the last of the light.
So I propose that we rekindle the warmth and passion of our light. Instead of seeking outwards to desolate moons, deep where crypts lie, I suggest we look for shards of our savior and inwards at our own innate abilities. The Praxic Order, before they had the duty of hunting down too far corrupted guardians, believed that we should stop searching to find what the darkness was and practice to better study the light. The light lives in every one of us after all. Many will not believe me, as they didn’t believe Wei either, but I find that the light infused in our own bodies is our best natural weapon and the only one I need. At most times I even find the rounds fired from the best of exotic weapons frugal compared to the damage I can inflict upon foes with simply my knuckles. I remember a time long ago where, through the gift of the light, I could manifest enough orbs with my fists alone that I could rival any subclasses super. And in times when I am stripped of all my tools, my exotics and my powerful armors, I can call back and call upon my light to deliver the needed strength to punch my way out of any situation. And I do mean any; hundreds of thralls crumpled around my two hands in single fights, phalanx shields shattered (and not the wimpy destiny 2 stuff either), fallen kells broke, and so on and so forth.
Now that may be a bit extreme for some of you, possibly all of you. Even the mightiest titans do not strike as they used to. Many have seem to have forgotten what it is we fight for, who we seek to protect. While many take strides to leave it all behind, the light and the traveler, I’d ask you to at least not abandon it completely. I’d implore you, fellow guardians, to make peace with your light and see it as what it truly is, not a tool, or a mechanic from a untrustworthy god, but as a source of hope. And it was that hope that ultimately defeated Crota, Oryx, Atheon, Aksis, Nokris, Xol, Riven and so many more foes. Thus I have faith that, if we come together, our light will see us though all the trials ahead.

The darkness is not inherently evil, just as light is not inherently good. It all comes down on the entities using them. We have done good with powers of the dark. With it we killed Erimis and it helped us kill the witch queen. In the same manner light can be used for evil. I mean just look at the warlords. Or the lucent hive. The traveler ain’t all that innocent either. The only reason it stayed was probably because Rasputin had it at gunpoint or it was trapped by the darkness. True, it gifted us light and gave us a golden age, but it has also trapped us in the middle of a cosmic war just by coming to our system. It makes us fight for it, since otherwise the darkness would destroy us, but when we begin to use our enemies weapon against them to try and keep it safe it tried to leave us. It still intends to leave us. This was something all the speakers knew in the constellation lore book. I ain’t saying the witness is good. The traveler is definitely the lesser evil, but it will try to leave us when it is advantageous. Darkness it not an entity, the witness is. Darkness is neutral just as light is.

Edited by SkinPoppeR: 9/11/2022 2:04:14 AM“What if The Traveler is not what we thought it was?” - Lord Saladin At this point it clear someone is inside The Traveler. Someone if we knew who they were at the beginning of Destiny we would not side with them. Why I say Taox is inside The Traveler and that statue of the woman of darkness in Luna’s Pyramid is her. The same McGuffen woman who originally met astronauts on Mars.

I don’t get this thinking. You played Beyond Light didn’t you? Stasis can easily block your Light, it did to us and almost got us killed. Without Darkness, our guardians would be dead. What good is purity when it gets you killed? Just silly.

3 RepliesWell according to bungie showcase we are going to be the first to use strand so the witness can't have mastered it unless being the deceitful a holes they can be this ends up being a lie. Further more I've never had faith in the traveler all its done in the last 5 years is draw attention to itself and provide no answers to anything in return. Blind faith in anything that provides no answers or reasons is a fools errand.

1 Replyanyone got a TLDR for that?
