Incorrect Russian translation

Hello, I would like to report errors in the Russian localization. Please note that I write this as a professional Russian/English translator with more than 10 years of work experience. 1) King's Fall weapons have an origin trait called Runneth Over. The name is obviously taken from the well-known quote from King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, specifically, from Psalms 23:5: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. The biblical reference was entirely lost in translation. In the Russian translation this perk somehow became Преднамеренный наезд which literally means "Deliberate run-over [by a car]". The perk name makes absolutely no sense in the context of Destiny and has no consistency between the name and the description. The Psalms book is slightly different in various Christian faiths, and in the Orthodox Christian canon this quote can be found in "Псалтирь 22:5" of the Russian Synodal Bible (this version is recommended by the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church for home reading): Ты приготовил предо мною трапезу в виду врагов моих; умастил елеем голову мою; чаша моя преисполнена. A single world 'Преисполнен' or 'Преисполнена' which is the equivalent of the original Runneth Over sounds like broken grammar. As a translator, I would recommend using the slightly larger quote as written in the Russian Synodal Bible: "Чаша преисполнена" (which translates back to Cup Runneth Over) without the word 'моя' (my). 2) Opulent weapons from the Season of the Haunted also have an origin trait with the name lost in translation. The original English name of this trait, To Excess, is themed after the hedonistic Emperor Calus known for his, well, excesses when it comes to pleasure and over-the-top opulence. The Russian localization uses the word "Избыточность" which is technically correct as a literal translation from the dictionary. However, this word is absolutely neutral in its meaning and reads more like "Redundance". It has no connotation of the Emperor's hedonism. I can recommend using words like "Излишество" which, by dictionary definition, means "going beyond necessary; excesses in [satisfying] one's needs" in Russian, which fits the perk and its effects perfectly. Even something like 'Изобилие' (Opulence), while inaccurate, would be more appropriate as the name of this perk than "Избыточность". P.S. I understand that in the current political climate the Russian localization is not the top priority. However, it has been plagued by odd translations and completely out-of-this-world nonsense for many seasons (or years?). I can easily play the game in English, but my clanmates play the translated version, and I encounter translated names and perks and so on too often for my tastes. Some translated terms are really good, some things are bearable, but phrases like Runneth Over are just a real translation train wreck which means total professional incompetence of the person who wrote that translation in Russian (it took me two minutes to find all necessary references for Runneth Over and confirm them). This is but one example out of many. The quality in general is inconsistent. Terms that existed in certain seasons are not always translated with the same words in a different season. In my first years of work I got enough reprimands from my superiors if I messed something up, if I deserved it. You mess up, you get chewed out, you do your job right and fix your mess. I don't know who or what company works with the Russian localization, but the result of their work looks unbelievably fragmented and poor. I don't know if it was caused by selecting a different translation company every season, by giving people snippets to translate without any context, by not using translation memories and legacy translations for future work, by lack of competent people knowing Russian/English to proofread it, or because in their opinion those video games are stuff for kids and do not deserve as much attention as equipment manuals or legal contracts or laboratory reports, whatever. Maybe it's something else, but still, this kind of a couldn't-care-less attitude to their work is just unacceptable. I apologize for ranting and venting, but something needs to be done here.

 • Understandable that you are upset with people doing a poor job when you yourself are more than capable of doing it properly. Trust me when I say nobody likes someone being a clown and messing up (or messing with) translations of foreign media you enjoy.
