Freelance for Control

If you’re going to make SBMM in control you need to have freelance… I’m so sick and tired of having 4-6 stacked teams vs me and the few that stay behind it is outrageous that you didn’t think of this before implementing it…. All for epic games. Thanks to your loyal fan base

      • Personally I like going up against 6 stacks as a solo PvP player. The games end super fast so that way I get my weekly pinnacle faster and get done with PvP faster.

        We need to stop players from leaving games, and then see if 6 stacks continue to have an advantage. SBMM has already solved some of the problems associated with 6 stacks, and quitter-prevention will help even more. 1) If SBMM really does match based off the highest "skill" member of your fireteam, then fireteams should have a lower average "skill" than the other team. - However, 6 stacks are a real problem when every player on the team is in the highest skill bracket. Now, they have better communication and coordination without being disadvantaged with a lower average "skill". Imo, this scenario is the real problem. 2) I've noticed that players consistently leave games against stacks. Once Bungie implements a penalty for leaving games, I suspect 6 stacking will be less effective. - We should wait and see how things play out for stacks with a rule against quitting games in place. EDIT: I didn't realize that teams matched based off of Fireteam Host skill rather than the player with the highest "skill". Until this is fixed, 6-stacking in Crucible will be even WORSE than last season. Sorry for my mistake. I had too much faith in Bungie. We can't implement Quitter-Prevention until Fireteams are placed in the same skill bracket as their highest player. It's not fair to players who face teams abusing this OBVIOUS EXPLOIT. I mean c'mon Bungie. You match players in Trials based off the player with the most wins on a card, so why is Control different? SMH

[i]are you sure it's needed along with SBMM?[/i] The reason I ask: Before the change to SBMM, I would have agreed without hesitation. But now, as I have been playing crucible (amazingly; just for fun), I have been doing so with the mindset of 'trusting the SBMM' so to speak. In the past seeing a 4 or 6 stack in crucible I would have come to the conclusion that my team would be losing that match, and depending how I felt at the time, I might even have gone so far as to leave the match (probably mot though, since doing so would certainly [i]not[/i] get me a better match). This season though, I keep thinking, if SBMM put my team up against them, maybe my fireteam actually has a fair chance against that particular stack. So, if anything, I play a little harder to see wether we actually [i]can[/i] win. Sometime we do beat them! Even when we don't, the match often ends up very close. Last match with a three stack +three randoms against my fireteam of 6 randoms (some with no clan), ended with our team losing by only 5 points at end of match. So my question to you is this: Are you [i]assuming[/i] the fight is lost prematurely? Because it might not be... In any case, I am thoroughly enjoying pvp again after soo long, and I don't mind losing when it feels like a fair fight. Not to say I would mind freelance as an option, of course. [i]Gunship[/i]

          • I don't think all stacks are as powerful as they look but freelance would be helpful. My clan runs control/crucible/gambit to help lower level players and newbies get experience without being overwhelmed. Some of our clan is better than others (my .05 K/D woo-hoo🤷‍♀️) but the communication is definitely a plus in stacks. We don't always win or "stomp" our opponents, but we have fun playing and learning loadouts/maps. One match, opponents rage quit when we were ahead by 20 points, but it wasn't anything near a stomping and we laid off once they were down to 3. I think the emphasis on the best k/d takes away from actually playing and enjoying things.

            • I would have agreed if we were still in the CBMM world. I have seen a significant decrease in mercies and steamroller matches And less facing off against of stacks of 4 or more. Which i think is a real big change. That being said it seems like a simply easy request for bungie to facilitate...i think they dont do it because there arent as many active players in the cues as we are led to believe. I acknowledge you personal experience may be different than mine. I play a lot of quick play.

              • They don’t care about us, they never have. They care about our visits to eververse and our pre orders. Sooner you learn that the easier it’ll be.

                • If I see anything more than a 3 stack I immediately bounce. It’s not fun or competitive. It is literally a waste of time and experience. Freelance is a must for SBMM. I really don’t understand how that wasn’t included at launch

                  This ^ Honestly as a solo player having to go up against a sweat 6 stack gets way worse the better you get at the game.

                • I queue'd up on Saturday and 5 games in a row had the other team with at least a 4x stack or better. 5 times in a row. And now you have two choices; 1. Back out and start again (which is the smart option) or 2. Stay in, someone on the team leaves right away, game takes 3 minutes to fill while you getting outnumbered left and right, and end up getting mercy ruled.

                  • Apparently either bungie didn’t hear or didn’t want to hear this. Fire-team-size preference MM, be it SBMM or CBMM. There are way more stacks in control this season, way more. Is there some exploit, or gain advantage against solos idk. I had a match where 3 on our side left during flying in b/c (I think) the other side has a 2 stack and a 3 stack, so we landed in 3v6. I left as well.

                        • Its a good idea for sure, i think a lot of solo players would be happy to see it in the game if the population is strong for pvp. I remember they tried this in D1 for it to be a dead playlist after a few weeks. Pvp in this game has so many damn issues lol

                                Funny low skill players have been asking for this for years. Response was always “hur dur…find a team of your own or git gut…it’s a team game!!!” Now that the shoe is on the other foot…streamers are demanding protection from sweaty six stacks 😂 Never thought I’d see the day.                                   One of the core components that does not get addressed. Lobby balancing is the main problem with matchmaking in this game. Any pre-made groups or teams should face off against each other no matter what. This is the easiest way to pad stats and exploit a matchmaking system. It has never been an issue of matchmaking itself but the lobby balancing between stats, groups and teams. Matchmaking will always do its job if lobby balancing is handled correctly and efficiently.

                                  Yea they ruined PvP for anyone that can half -blam!- aim..Every single match is a sweat fest now and you have to play super careful which sucks bc everyone is team shooting. Plus the lag, plus the bad team balancing...

                                • Doesn't. Matter at all when my melee barely does damage and the new melee they are using is one shotting me. Plenty more stupid examples of failed balance in the game. Balance the game or something. Like it's really unbalanced.
