I play trials with my buddies and almost no casual PvP. It just isn't fun. The meta is stale, the cheap tactics are infuriating, the connection issues are ridiculous in 2022.
I honestly do not think they can fix it at this point, not do they care to. Why would they? They have their loyal players who are not going anywhere. They don't do pinnacles in crucible anymore, they really don't support the mode if we're being honest.
If you enjoy playing control, good on you. I'm not here saying you're an idiot if you play crucible, I'm just saying I don't enjoy it anymore. I really think the main problem is there are too many OHK guns and too many cheese tactics for me. If you enjoy hopping around shooting each other then by all means, enjoy! I just don't find it fun, and I have a feeling I am not alone in feeling this way.

I agree with the meta's being stale AF. I understand that people like winning and all that but control is the casual playlist. You should not have to sweat your nuts off regardless of your tier of skill. I know that hell would sooner freeze over then what im about to suggest but people need to start playing this -blam!- for fun again, put down the meta weapons and exotics for a minute, let your hair down and do some silly -blam!-. If you win, you win, if you loose you loose. We ait in trials so why should any casual pvp playlist be treated as such. Heck if i actually committed to using the meta and mastering it my kd might actually become positive after a while. However, that aint me chief, I would rather play for fun and see the silly -blam!- bamboozle people in ways they don't expect. Its like using blink in pvp. people dont expect it.

D1 Y1 was like this. Then content creators happened. I'm not blaming them, I'm really not, that's just what happened. I remember people going to crucible to try out new guns and armor, just to see how the gun felt shooting live targets. Once the first streamers began it became "meta" this, "ttk" that, and "this gun/ability needs a nerf". I really don't think you can fix it at this point. Maybe if you remove all personal stats, but then you would be slapping dedicated PvP players in the face, they would leave and never come back and no one would blame them. Hopefully someone on here can come up with a solution.

Hmm perhaps maybe more of a controlled system similar to halo where everyone out here using basic purples and none of the op guns ? Id be down for that
