It was better than I first imagined. A bit slow at first but it held my attention. I did feel really tensed with that goblin scene in the House though
do you think the kid could be the Witch King?
•
Doubt it. The Witch-King was likely a Numenorian lord that we haven’t met yet. He could turn out to become one of the lesser Nazgûl…or the just someone unlucky to find something that belongs to Sauron. Like Sméagol was thousands of years later.
•
Yeah that makes a little more sense that he’d be a Numenorian lord. It could be that he becomes one of the Lesser Nazgûl which seems more likely than him being the Witch King. If it is just some poor soul he just found the Blade than I do want to learn how he found it.

Someone was hiding it in the floor boards beneath their home. Odds are it’s just a relic of war. One enchanted with some sort of dark sorcery. What the show glossed over very quickly (because there was so much worldbuilding to do) is that these people were the Haradrim. Men of the South who were beyond the reach of the influence of the Elves, and kept seperated from Eru (God) and the Valar by the lies and intimidation of first Morgoth, and then Sauron. If you watched the Peter Jackson movies, these people are the distant ancestors ( 5000 years removed) of the men who fought for Sauron at The Battle of Pelennor Fields. They were riding the Elephants. That’s why there was so much resentment towards the Elves. They fought on opposite sides of the Wars against Morgoth, and the Elves were essentially a distrusted occupying force.
•
of someone hid it, then I wonder who it could be. I do hope the expand of the Blades origins because it’s possible that it could be a Morgûl blade. Yeah I did think they glossed over that fact a little to quickly, but it’s only the First two Episodes so we have a lot more to go through. Also did you notice that when they were talking about Morgoth Burning the two Trees of Light they used a Model for Sauron in the smoke?

Its clearly a blade that has been cursed by some sort of dark sorcery…which makes it a “morgul” (dark sorcery in Sindarin) blade of a sorts. I think we’re just seeing the evil equivalent of the enchanted blades created in the First Age by the High Elves. Blades like Glamdring, Sting, and Orcrist that we see in the Hobbit and Lord of The Rings. I’m Tolkien’s view “magic” is the ability to embue an object with part of your essence and and intention in creating it. Then these things manifest and affect the world. So the Elven blades glow with the anger and hatred of Orcs and other evil things of the creators. I think we’re seeing this sword remnant manifest the violence and blood-thirstiness of its evil creator (who may be Sauron) and it draws power (to reforge itself) when that hunger is satisfied. Just a thought.
• These people are a part of the Tyr Harad. The Haradrim that you know and love that ride the mumukil are from further south, in Far Harad.

 • Thanks. I remembered that distinction after I’d posted it….

 • Lol. I do hope we see the Haradrim in the show though, and hopefully with the Mumikil. As well as the Easterlings. I assume we will, since it’s called Tge Rings of Power, and the only named Nazgûl is Khamul The Black Easterling.

 • Doubtful about the kid, but yes, they scene had me on edge. Really leaned into the horror vibes with the orc, I felt like I was watching IT. Only reason I doubt about the kid, is that the series is called The Rings of Power, meaning they’ll introduce the nine kings of men soon, so he can’t be the Witch King. Definitely see him becoming a bad guy though. The sword already seems to be corrupting him.

 • Honestly it would make sense for the kid to be related to the Witch King. If it’s not him it could be his father (I know it’s heavily hinted that’s it’s the Elf, but I don’t know) It could be cool to see him grow up to be the Witch King

 • Due to how long this series could take, and how many years apart each event is, yes I would say he could be related.

 • If he isn’t the Witch King himself but his son or grandson or great grandson then he could pass the blade down through his lineage
