What’s hilarious is 343i are making the same mistakes with Halo right now. Both companies seems to have forgotten their games are about fun. Not a sweaty COD fest.
343i ruined Halo Infinite from the beginning by implementing a rank system that locks players into a tight range. Many gamers stopped playing ranked after they learned about the implementation.
Then 343i killed off more of the population in Season 2 by focusing on LSS/FFA (i.e., Rumble for those reading this post who do not play Halo Infinite). It really makes one wonder how such a bad decision was made considering that Halo is traditionally a team-based game.

Edited by SkinPoppeR: 9/3/2022 7:09:54 PMThe key factor is Fun. Bungie created the 30 seconds of Fun loop. 343i had a perfect layup and they dropped the ball. Mostly with Halo 5. Frank O’Connor took Halo in a non fun direction and tried to make Halo this hyper real military shooter. Halo is military shooter in the same line that Aliens is a military film. The marines are loud mouth braggarts who are looking to stomp bugs. Their armor in OG Halo was even extremely similar to Aliens. Slap on metal shoulder pads and knee guards. Now marines in Halo look like some ridiculous Ghost Recon nonsense. The setting in Aliens and Halo is an over the top sci-fi romp that takes itself not to seriously and like I said the marines are supposed to be silly and unprofessional at times for Action. Additionally Bonnie just does damage control in the form of lies. But that’s Halo’s situation. Destiny has a similar problem in that Bungie desperately wants their game to be a competitive MMO. But it’s a Looter Shooter and in Looter Shooter games folks just want to show off their gear. This is why Meta is such a problem. Bungie gives us a weapon or armor gear that people have fun with....Bungie can’t have that. Gotta nerf the fun for competitive players in a Looter Shooter.
