Did they make Galadriel a lesbian? Modern writers can't seem to write a strong female lead without inverting the character's -blam!- nowadays. It simply doesn't compute for them and it's now become a stereotype.

Yeah that's the kind of take I'd expect from a nazi larper. And oh look the rest of the zealots have come out to play aswell! And to top it all off they're triggered about something that isn't even in the show. Damn, all it takes to rustle y'alls jimmies is gay people existing.

Bruce Wizard*Whispers* "Hail HYDRA..." - old
In comic book canon Hydra’s main focus is and has always been occultism. Actually take the time to research the source material before you resort to name calling. The organization shown in the movies is completely different to the one in the comics. -
Hydra is literally a terrorist organization, that’s only goal is evil reign and they literally worked with the -godwinslaw!-.

Calm down mate. Don't like what they have to say. Ignore them and move on with your life.

Edited by kellygreen45: 9/4/2022 2:20:43 PMNo. Galadriel eventually marries Celeborn. If you watched The Fellowship of the Ring movie by Peter Jackson, you met him. He was the elf standing beside her in Loth Lorien asking about Gandalf and his “passing beyond my sight.” What people need to understand is that (besides being a military commander) this is a better portrayal of her character. Galadriel was High elf ROYALTY. (It’s why she hesitated to bow before Gil-Galad and resisted his authority. She sees herself as his equal, not his subject). She was headstrong, ambitious, and niece to the most powerful elf to have ever existed: Feanor. The elf who caused the high-elves to rebel against the Valar and leave Valinor to wage war in Morgoth. In fact Galadriel was so ambitious that the Valar did not lift the BAN on her return to Valinor until AFTER the events of the Lord of the Rings. So this portrayal of her is very true to the spirit of Tolkien’s work. Elves in their younger days do not willingly follow evil. But they were proud, intense, and impulsive. These character traits led them to do many terrible things. Either individually or as a group. Galadriel had to grow into her power and the wisdom to temper her ambitions. By the time of the War of the Ring, she had done that. While we’re now seeing why—in an earlier age—-The Valar told her to stay her backside in Middle-earth. She was not welcome back in the Undying Lands.
Galadriel eventually marries Celeborn. They should really do the guy right if he shows up in later seasons of the show.

Agreed. But I didn’t like how he was portrayed in the movies, and I didn’t warm up to Cate Blanchett’s performance until the Hobbit movies.
-
Cate Blanchett was one of the best parts of The Hobbit movies.

Someone told me they did that with Elrond which makes no sense to me bc he had a daughter

Edited by kellygreen45: 9/4/2022 2:51:44 PMHeavens, no. People need to understand that what we are seeing are events that took place FIVE THOUSAND years before the events of the Lord of the Rings. It’s like us looking back at Ancient Egypt. The Elrond and Galadriel we are meeting early in The Second Age are basically TEENAGERS compared to the beings we come to know 5000 years later during the War of the Ring. Elrond will eventually marry Galadriel’s daughter. Arwen is Galadriel’s grand-daughter. It’s why Galadriel says to Aragorn when the Fellowship leaves Loth Lorien, “You already have the greatest gift I have to give.” (My granddaughter and her love) These are not the same eleves we know 5000 years later because they have not undergone the events that helped to shape their characters.
Elrond has not seen the deaths of people he admires. Yet only to see evil keep spring up over and over again. He is not the wise but war-weary being he becomes by the end of the Third Age. Galadriel has not yet learned about the power of ambition to fuel tragedy. She has not learned from her family’s mistakes and understood their tragic consequences. She has not yet learned that power comes with responsibility and needs to be tempered by humility. Like the being who has learned this lesson when Frodo offers her the One Ring, and she has to face the temptation of becoming a being powerful enough to rival Sauron. ”Instead of Dark Lord, you would have a Queen. Beautiful and as terrible as the dawn….All shall love me and despair. “
No, they are t doing that. I’m amazed that people will believe this…

Edited by Twin Inferno: 9/3/2022 10:36:59 PMI just heard it but again am so confused bc again, the two episodes don’t confirm any of that.

Edited by kellygreen45: 9/5/2022 12:33:25 PMIgnore the toxic buzz and childish review bombing. Watch the show for your self and make up your own mind. As Tolkien wanted for The Free Peoples…

Edited by MisterMaster93: 9/3/2022 11:16:52 PMIt appears to be from a reviewer.
While Randolph claims Elrond is Galadriel’s gay BFF she then laments, “Tragically, there are no LGBT characters in all of The Lord of the Rings because J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Roman Catholic.”
[url=https://boundingintocomics-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/boundingintocomics.com/2022/08/31/grace-randolph-savages-galadriel-in-the-lord-of-the-rings-the-rings-of-power-claims-elrond-is-gay/amp/?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D&utm_source=hplus_ios#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16622459606112&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fboundingintocomics.com%2F2022%2F08%2F31%2Fgrace-randolph-savages-galadriel-in-the-lord-of-the-rings-the-rings-of-power-claims-elrond-is-gay%2F]link

That. Is why I ignore reviewers. Wow.
-
Oh, god…
-
Exactly. People just make stuff up to make people not want to watch it. Personally, I hope there ARE queer characters in it, just to piss off the neck beards. Tolkien was very close friends with multiple gay authors and poets, including a woman who was in a very open relationship with another woman. Tolkien 100% would have loved to see the diversity in Rings of Power.
-
Dang. I’m late to the party.
-
Tolkien 100% would have loved to see the diversity in Rings of Power.
Lol. Not that kind of diversity.
-
Yes. He would have. Most of his work revolves around the dangers and horrors that often result from thinking one is absolutely right.
-
Why not? Give me reason why not. He was close friends with multiple gay and lesbian authors and poets, so why would he not be happy?

Even if he was good friends with some -blam!- people, that really doesn't mean anything. Edit: That censored? Come on bungo.

Edited by kellygreen45: 9/5/2022 1:09:02 PMThe only sins Tolkien concerned himself with in his writings were Pride, Hate, Anger, and the desire to control. Both Dark Lords were the supernatural sources of these sins/evils….and the worst evils committed by both Men and Elves in Middle-earth were the result of these sins. When people lose sight of their place in the natural order and seek make themselves more than what they are…or to destroy or dominate others. Like when the Elves sought to make war upon—-for lack of a better term—-the Devil of Middle-earth. Or when the Men of Numenor sought to defy Iluvatar (God)‘s Will that Men ultimately die and leave Middle-earth…by trying to invade Valinor and take immortality by force. Iluvatar showed up to deal with that Himself. Yanked Valinor out of the reach of Men. Sank Numenor into the Ocean like Atlantis…and then dared Men to try it again… Tolkien didn’t give a crap about what people did in their bedrooms. When Earendil went to Valinor to plead for aid in defeating Morgoth, he begged on behalf of ALL the Children of Iluvatar (God). Even those under the dominantion of Morgoth. It was his selflessness that motivated the Valar to lift their curse upon the Noldor and render aid.
Not all Catholics are home uh fobic genius…
Gotta love bungie censoring. And key word is devout. He would know what the Bible says about that stuff, and it isn't flattering.
