It’s gotten to the point that if you’re against SBMM you’re a “sweaty tryhard crybaby” and if you’re for it then you’re a “casual who needs to git gud”. You made some very good points, but I think the forums has become so divided on this subject that they’ve decided to smash the downvote button just because you’re well above average at the game

  • Because that’s the irreconcilable difference. The OP only wants to play against people of his own skill level when HE feels like it. But that means condemning others to having NO CHOICE in playing those they can’t possibly beat on an ongoing basis. Those weaker players don’t have to—and don’t want to—pay for an experience like that. So they leave, and Bungie loses money. Competition? Everyone has the same chance to have fun. Non-competitive matchups were the strong dominate the weak? A predatory arrangement where one group has fun at the expense of another. The problem is the strong don’t want to hear that truth.
The OP only wants to play against people of his own skill level when HE feels like it. But that means condemning others to having NO CHOICE in playing those they can’t possibly beat on an ongoing basis.
Not at all. OP stated some of the core perceptions he has been facing in SBMM’s implementation- a higher number of players are quitting matches, even if they are winning, and it’s become a little more competitive than it naturally should be because of how it was designed
Those weaker players don’t have to—and don’t want to—pay for an experience like that. So they leave, and Bungie loses money.
This is not a PvP oriented game, and never will be. Bungie profits mostly from the content they sell in PvE and eververse
Competition? Everyone has the same chance to have fun.
Yup
Non-competitive matchups were the strong dominate the weak? A predatory arrangement where one group has fun at the expense of another.
This is normal and happens in every FPS game, and still does with SBMM- it’s unavoidable regardless of how you look at it
The problem is the strong don’t want to hear that truth.
The problem is no one listens to each other. No one finds compromise yet wants to immediately make false assumptions based on.. a KDA? Their low overall KD? There is no truth by hearing others say “this is what you deserve”, or “stop crying”; it just sounds vengeful, which strays away from the actual point of it all- even a few months ago, casuals were being told the same thing.

Unfortunately the irony of your post is lost on you. I’m trying to disagree with what I said, you just confirmed it. Thank you. There is no compromise possible because each wants conditions that the other finds intolerable. THAT is what people are unwilling to hear. So top players try to shame average players into accepting conditions that they find intolerable for themselves, and are ridiculous for those average players. While average players simply go wher there money and time are respected. Which means walking away from CBMM.

You are not disagreeing with what you said at all. If someone has differing points, you react like this, completely unwilling to find common ground when you can’t find a justified reason to bring forth that benefits the discussion. I’ve seen it in every reply you have made. Muted.

  • THERE IS NO COMMON GROUND POSSIBLE!!! I’m not closed minded. I’m simply telling you a truth you don’t want to hear because you don’t like it. CBMM requires a that players of average ability accept having frequently go up against players that they have no hope of beating. As a rule this is not fun. But they don’t have to accept this, because a ton of OTHER shooters offer SBMM. So they LEAVE. Which slowly kills the game. SBMM requires high skill players to play against players of similar skill and have to compete. The problem is may of those players feel that the non-competitive opponents that CBMM gives them is their “just reward” for “getting good”. So they get angry and frustrated because they now have to work for success that they took for granted, and feel entitled to. There is no compromise here. Coexistence requires one side to abandon their own interests completely so that the other can have their way. Eight years—-and the complete industry shift towards SBMM—-shows that this isn’t going to happen. No matter how much you want it to. Or think that it should happen. It isn’t.
