That's great! I think a lot of players are playing more Crucible and making small improvements. I hope the population numbers keep rising
It will be great if SBMM lasts until Lightfall, and we can entice a whole new group of players into playing (and enjoying) Crcucible!

The population has been steadily declining since the addition of SBMM. Even some dedicated content creators quit cold Turkey. It’s one of the worst changes they’ve ever made.

I backed off Crucible and that used to be the only mode I played. Now I’m doing nightfalls and other PVE content. SBMM lag has driven me away and I may not come back with MW2 right around the corner. This just isn’t it for me anymore and that’s fine.

In the last TWAB, Bungie said the number of players in Crcuible rose by 11%, and there were several thousand more hours played than the same time last season. Streamers are mad, because they might lose money by not getting as many 20+ kill streaks

It was the first week of a new season which always has the highest player count, it also had a raid release 3 days later and crucible is one of the fastest ways to grind levels and get gear. Bungie also changed the matchmaking so people are going to go into the crucible that normally wouldn't just to try it, but that doesn't mean that they stayed. Those numbers Bungie pulled don't mean anything until 3-4 weeks into the season but Bungie does this all the time, they don't wait to see if the numbers are consistent. They make a change, see an increase in numbers because obviously you would at the start of a new season/when a new big change is implemented.. and they pat themselves on the back... but that's not how stats work.
-
Those numbers were compared to last season, but you're still right. Those numbers aren't directly comparable. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the numbers look like in a couple weeks

Casual FTP players hopping into control don’t count as much as dedicated PvP players in my eyes. They don’t deserve to be catered to because they’ve spent very little time in game.

Edited by NotCreative123: 9/4/2022 5:58:37 AMActually, I want the Crucible to grow in popularity, and I think SBMM is a way of achieving that. If new players find success early, they'll be more likely to play long term. Good players may have a slightly tougher time of things, but it's worth it to attract more players. Also, on a personal note, it's nice that Control finally feels competitive. I understand Control is a casual mode, but all that really means is that there's nothing on the line. EDIT: I neglected to address your post directly: Players who are not heavily involved with Crucible are still important to the game, because they are potential players.

SBMM is forcing improvements so it can keep you at a normal 1kd.

Who cares about KD? I'm playing to have fun

You're playing for k/d just fine.
