For context, I stopped playing PvP outside of Mayhem ages ago due to awful connections, crossplay was the final straw given I'm on Xbox n 90% of my opponents where on psn, it was just too much. Also, seeing people complain about matching people across the country is laughable, as a UK gamer I've had lobbies full of the middle East, Russia and Asia, since 2014, be it sbmm, cbmm, makes no difference.
So this week I've played 6 games, here's my scores in order of time I played them
3.33
2.87
2.75
1.70
1.25
1.08
The more I played the more I saw longer queue times, more lag and desync, a bigger influx of psn players from 5000+ miles away, more adept guns, more PvP titles, more instant deaths that didn't make sense, and now it feels like it did before sbmm was brought back. I'm now going back to not playing PvP, even for my pinnacles, not worth it at all. It's not possible to please everyone, infact it's barely possible to please anyone given the restrictions of P2P, awful maps, no incentive, no ranking, awful loot pool
To bungie, my fix, as an average older gamer, now I can see both sides of destroying people with ease, then the lag, wait times, n weird BS that comes with playing better players, it's simple. Let people who WANT to play PvP, play PvP and enjoy it, for those who don't, stop forcing them in there for things.
Remove sbmm, and add a weekly core quest, play any 9 core activities with a pinnacle drop at 3,6,9 completions. Give quests n catalysts a PvE and PvP option. It's a game, let people play how, and what, they want.
Just my feedback

You're also still fighting the 50/50 win over rate algorithm.
-
Except look how consistent those matches were. Yes they gradually got harder, as is expected, you're not supposed to just be stomping the enemy teams, it's supposed to be COMPETITIVE and thus fair. At least now, you are actually simply challenged instead of frequently put into absolute stomps.

hear, hear wonder how the exploit reported here is going to be addressed? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaN2joRz-f4 If SBMM is reversed, then as you say, remove all crucible requirements and give player's a choice in what they want to do for instance in completing catalysts.
-
That’s how SBMM works. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/261671388/0/0/1

I know, the point is, after a few games you end up in the exact same place as you started. It's all fubar.

Edited by BANZAI GEXX: 9/2/2022 3:23:02 PMCBMM was worse with the match making. Constant mercies and stacks. I played 15-35 matches a day last season per destinytracker. SBMM is not going away as Bungie already admitted CBMM was broken. It’ll be monitored and adjusted. Read the twab. Quitting penalties are incoming.
-
Read my post again. For me, there's absolutely no difference now. N I really don't care if it stays or goes, I'm totally done with PvP again. They could remove the whole thing n I wouldn't care

As I stated over and over. Bring back pure CBMM no match making balancing. No stats tracked in quick play. Make it a chill mode to do catalysts and bounties. Track stats in only comp and trials.

The other 6v6 modes still have cbmm. Go play those and leave control to the masses
-
Nope, us veterans are not letting you no thumb wanna be pvp players get our mode, lol.
-
Did you not read my post? The whole thing is broken, not worth the effort lol. Cbmm is equally as awful
-
Did you read yesterday's TWAB? Engagement numbers are up. Higher than they've been in 2 years. They've acknowledged things on the far ends of the population spectrum but by and large more people are playing and staying more than the 3 and out. It's working and not much can stop it.
-
i gotta always say this, they teamed up with epic games, for an event.............. obviously numbers are gonna go up. if the numbers didn't go up, then i'd feel second hand embarrassment for bungie

After almost two weeks on a new season with arguably the most loved raid in Destiny history. I’m down to give SBMM a try for the next two seasons but it isn’t a success yet. Just because people wanna try it out is all. If it got reverted back to CBMM during the next season, numbers would likely go up again. This is a poor amount of time to look at data.
-
You will find out in time that Bungie is not the most honest company with it’s customers.
-
Wrong. People are TRYING PvP again because they hear things are fixed. This will not last. Match quality in general is way worse even if team match-ups are more balanced (still getting wonky match-ups at times). People will start noticing the issues with latency are worse after SBMM honeymoon phase is over. For the first time in a long time I've been seeing tons of rubberbanding. What did they do... Throw out CBMM altogether? If so, that was a terrible decision. Lmao

Common sense applied 👍

Which is clearly lacking in the world we live in, today. Lol

I'm not on either end, I'm right in the middle. My reply was about you saying play cbmm modes, but they're just as bad. My point was sbmm didnt help an already very poor experience in gaming. Numbers being up btw is smoke and mirrors. They compared them to last season, but this season had a free dlc week, it launched on epic games too, and a raid launched meaning people left their comfort zone and did their weekly 3 or 9 PvP games. It'll show a more clearer picture in a few weeks.
-
Yes time will tell. But if more people play and continue to play past the 3 and out then it's working.
-
No, it does not mean it is working.
