I respectfully disagree. And I think you might be having a misconception that a lot of high skill players have, which is that the experience you've had against low skill players is universal. But it isnt. Low skill players playing against other players of low skill are having a near identical experience to yours, with meta chaser sweats populating every lobby, quitters all over the place, and very close matches. The only major difference is in wait times, since the low-mid skill playerbase is so much larger. I am a middling skill player. KDA has been holding consistently aroubd the 1.3 mark for the past couple seasons. I could hold my own, but there was always one or two players clearly leagues above me that would run the lobby. Either on my team or the enemy, either way. They'd roll over everyone, and the rest of us would be looking for scraps. That aint fun, nor does it help anybody improve their pvp skills. Since SBMM was implemented though, Ive seen significant improvement. My games have been consistently competative. Of the 25 or so matches Ive played since, only one went to mercy. The rest have been really close, my most reccent even having a rally for my team, closing a 60 point gap and winning the match. The meta chasers are still here, playing like their lives depend on it, the quitters are still here, leaving on their first defeat, but the overall quality of the matches have improved so much. As has my skill. Im not getting laid out every 15 seconds anymore, and Ive felt the room that's given me to improve. Im coming up with sight lines Id ne er thought of before, finally making better use of cover, jumps, ADS vs hipfire, etc etc. And again, every game is really really close. I have to play my best or I dont succeed. Difference is that my best is finally good enough to compete with the eneny team. If you arent enjoying sbmm, there are other playlists to jump into instead thst are still cbmm. Rumble, rift, and I believe survival are all still cbmm, as is trials and soon iron banner. If you want to get away from the high octane competativeness going on in control, you can always hop into one of them.

  • No, low skill vs low skill is nowhere near the same as a top tier lobby, or even an above average one. There are so many facets of an FPS that bad players simply cannot take advantage of, it’s just not a thing. (This is why AE was added, you people are super entitled. That’s why.) Yeah sure, VERY basic stuff comes quick bit learning how to hit every three tap in the air? Predict every person near perfectly because there are so many easy OHKs in this game that become free kills past a certain skill level? That takes time! There are basically different SANDBOXES at every skill level in any game. Look at overwatch usage rates, differing ranks use different things to a crazy degree. A .5 on a controller sniper? Useless. Put that in the hands of anyone who already had above average aim? They can control a lobby. Shotguns at low skill levels? Easy people miss every primary shot like it’s their job. Get into good lobbies? You get ROLLED for apeing. The game is different, and much harder at higher skill levels.

  • Perhaps I should have been more clear with my wording. You are right, there arent any snipers rolling lobbies in low skill brackets, or free ohk masters running around. What I meant by the experience being the same is facing players of your skill level playing their absolute hardest and having to struggle against them. That is the experience that is universal across all skill brackets. In higher tier lobbies, it might be sniper kings and perfect aerial aim 140 HCs. In the lower tiers, the struggle is against shotgun apes and corner campers. Having players that arent aware or capable of top tier stratagies doesnt mean they suddenly dont struggle against each other. Its different, but the core experience is the same.
