Had them since he was introduced. Eido will end up being the kell of Kells, Misraaks will die and end up being the first Eliksni Guardian.

  • The first Eliksni Guardians is going to end up being the Kell of Kells. The prophecy of the House of Rain implies as much.

  • Dude I would be heartbroken if Misraaks died and became a Guardian. I love who he is now and Eido would never be able to get over it

  • Narratively I’m afraid it makes the most sense for him to be killed off.

  • It’s only been a year or so since he was introduced so I’m confident we won’t be losing him. And when I say confident, I also mean hopeful

  • It’s not been a year, no. Misraaks has been part of the story since D2 vanilla where we spared his life on Titan.

  • Ok fair enough when I said introduced I meant as an important character, he was more background back then. What I meant to say was it’s only been a year since he became important in Season of the Splicer

  • Depends on how much lore you read I guess. Look, let’s be realistic, Bungie is not an especially unique creator, this sudden promotion of Misraaks to a more central role? Yeah, never a good sign. The fact most people like him? That’s a worse one. He and Caiatl are for it and both will be the respective first guardians of their races, I’m calling it now.

  • I’ve read the lore thanks mate. And I can confidently say that there is no way in this next two years that Caiatl will die. Besides, plenty of shows or games promote minor characters to major roles only to have them survive. Carol Peletier, a character who does very early on in the source material, became one of the Walking Dead show’s main characters. As far as I’m aware she’s still very much alive in the show (haven’t seen Season 11). Another example from this very game would be Lord Saladin, who did nothing from Rise of Iron to Season 13, and is now still very alive. Same with the Crow, who was literally around for two years and is now largely a fan favourite character. Just because a character gets the limelight it does not at all mean that they are going to die or face some horrible tragedy. I wouldn’t place any money at all on Misraaks, especially not Caiatl, becoming Guardians, or even Misraaks dying this season.

  • You’re giving the writing team more credit then I am, personally I don’t think they’re that canny. As so far, every character beat has been pretty predictable.

  • Oh yes, why shouldn’t I give a writing team that’s produced the last year and a half of Destiny 2 any credit? Absolutely ludicrous idea. The twist with Saladin joining the Cabal was pretty unprecedented and unpredictable. We fought in Season of the Chosen to stop Guardians being assimilated into the Cabal, only to have one forced to join them because of a mistake made by Crow? Not to mention the character of Crow even existing- if you went back to Destiny 1 vanilla and told everyone Uldren Sov would be a Guardian, you’d have been laughed out of the room. The majority of the player base has praised the recent content we’ve had in the story department, and with good reason. The Bungie writing team has done a remarkable job with this game, and I think it’s disrespectful not to give them as much credit for it.

I actually want to say that it was predictable, which doesn’t make it bad. I’ve been saying Saladin would end up on Caital’s War Council one way or the other since Chosen, given how much his views actually align with the Cabal, and between Chosen and Risen he was shown meeting with Cabal leadership and actually standing his own. Just didn’t expect it to be because of a life-debt substitution with Crow. At least until Risen started.

  • To play devils advocate for a second, Bungie have admitted they rotate between 3 teams that each push the narrative and theme of a season. Season of the Risen’s twist was great, no doubt. Season of the Haunted? Other then the interaction between Crow and Uldren, was awful. They had no idea what story they wanted to tell, and stuff like the finale was really poor. It could honestly go either way, it depends which teams piloting, If we’re going by the above logic, and we’re assuming they stick to an order, the current team for this season were the ones responsible for Lost, which was fine, if we didn’t all already know the ending, (but that’s not their fault Witch Queen needed to be advertised) And Hunt, which you either love or hate (ironic how both that and current both have a focus on spider eh?)

  • Thank you for putting that so well; you perfectly summarised my feelings in a way I couldn’t yesterday. For me, Spider was very out of character the last time we saw him (putting a bomb in Glint, risking an altercation with Mara and the Guardians in the process) and he feels more like himself this time out. There’s a lack of cohesion between the various writing teams and it shows; whoever was writing Osiris’ poetry before was great but the snippet this season isn’t as polished for example.

Hey look, we have different opinions on the skill of the writers, I’m afraid you’re not changing my mind on their overall creative competence and I very highly doubt I’ll change yours so we’ll have to agree to disagree in this instance. I will, however say that respect in any field is earned, not given as standard and Bungie made some pretty hilarious mistakes in the last few years (there’s a sparrow for example where Spider has 20 fingers ...) that meant I personally respected them a little less.

  • Ngl, it would be really cheesy if both of them were the first of their races. Also, Destiny 3 five races?

  • Yeah, which makes me inclined to think that’s what they’ll do; their writing team is pretty cheesy!

  • The problem in my head is I can't see them killing our boi. I think they should, and that he could be the first Eliniski Risen(rather ironic, once fallen now risen). It would be great story content, but idk if bungie would do that

  • I mean, I flip flop between it being too clever for Bungo and it being so obvious that they’ll do it tbh. But with the increase in focus on him ... well ... it’s an age old writing trick to give a character focus before they’re for it.
