I feel like they are heavily modified scorn, like the care taker from vow. This would also explain why there are few of them since Rhulks research was disrupted by us.

They are the Darkness race, reshaped through a dark metamorphosis as explained in Rhulks lore when he was saved from the Abyss. We can see the same happening to Calus. The antithesis of how Lightbearers are born, Tormenters/Disciples are the dark version of Guardians. The Witness says "When they come and see our shape" alluding to this process. -
Edited by OhtheHugeManity5: 8/28/2022 12:39:22 PMI get the impression that they are neither. Definitely servants of the Witness, but probably nowhere near high enough rank to be disciples. Disciples are like the Witness' generals, each given command of a major Pyramid and an army. These seem more like just some muscle the Witness can throw around where needed. As for what exactly they are, that's an interesting question. Looking at their design I think they are created rather than appointed. They seem to be stitched together of a bunch of parts with Resonance tech. Beyond that, who knows? One of the other replies mentions that they may be related to Rhulk's Scorn-Worm experiments. That certainly could be the case but there's no way to really know yet.

Ab alien race that has been remade by the Witness, much like Rhulk.

My personal theory is that they were the machines that were sent on earth by the pyramids on the colapse. The ones that appear on the black armory lore book. That sounds like stretching machinery and have the smell of wet earth.

The disciples are the highest rank, before the Witness himself. Torments I Beleive to be commanders the witness sent to help the Shadow Legion.

Rhulk was the last Lubraean, so it seems Calus may have used Cabal cloning technology to genitically engineer similar soldiers.

Hopefully they’re a preview of the pyramid ship’s enemy race -
They’re the first we see of the pyramid units. And I can see plenty more on its way. They are huge

It's like how the Taken or Scorn are with the darkness and fight under a Disciple or the Witness they aren't a Disciple but they are apart of the Witness's forces

1 ReplyEdited by Guardian1683: 8/26/2022 1:03:41 AMThey are just soldiers under Calus. Not disciples. “Pyramid units”.

Their part of the witness own force as to what that is is up in the air but the fact we are seeing some soilders from the witness means that after we inevitably destroy the shadow legion most likely we face the witnesses forces
