I’m wondering when Darkness was ever mind magic.
Or how the ultra bad of the cosmos wasn’t smart enough to learn Strand.
Seems like a half baked writing session.

I feel like you're just doing half-baked thinking on this one.
-
Really? Is that why I have people telling me stasis has to deal with consciousness and makes sense? Cause I’m the one not thinking things through?
-
Idk about stasis specifically, but the darkness has always been a tool used by living things with a sense of purpose. Also, the assumption that using strand is a matter of intelligence is completely baseless.
-
Light is used by living things with sense of purpose. Can’t be dead and use Light. As for purpose? That’s optional for both. The Worm Pact forced the Hive into action. Stasis doesn’t. Deepsight doesn’t. Strand doesn’t seem likely to. So I’m not sure you thought that all the way through. Pretty sure we’ve proven in the game that learning more powers is the smart play. Thinking you don’t need to expand your tool set is what the Light purists said and we proved that wrong. So why does the supreme Darkness baddie whose had eons to master all the Darkness has to offer get a free pass for ignoring powers available to it? Cause reasons?
-
Can’t be dead and use Light.
That was pretty much a requirement for every guardian but shin malphur. I'm just saying it's pretty unwise to draw conclusions when you know you have limited information.
-
No, worthy candidates were picked from the dead. They had to be brought to life to use it. Like you said with Shin, being dead isn’t required. You disproved your point for me. Thanks. Same goes for defending something as being justified, if you can’t say it’s wrong how can you say it’s right? But hey, that would require fully thinking things through. And according to you, I’m the only one not doing that on this subject. 🤦
-
shin died tho, didn't he?
-
Yeah, the baby that was brought back is suspected to be Shin. His Ghost died soon after bringing him back, which made him mortal again. But the Ghost talked about why Shin was a candidate. Dead wasn’t the requirement, it was being worthy. As his Ghost talked about how the Traveler knew the baby could grow up into someone worthy. Ghosts “feel” like they have to pick from the dead. There isn’t anything showing them scanning living people, they avoid it. But if they can disregard what species to bring back and choose the Hive? As for Shin, the first revival seems to have left a mark on him somehow. That’s the suspected reason Jaren’s Ghost took an interest in him even while Jaren was alive. Being brought back may have left a signature on him. But unlike other Guardians, he wasn’t dead and didn’t have his memory wiped upon becoming a Guardian. But that lack of being dead and having the memory wiped is what enabled him to beat Dredgen Yor. Without his memory, he wouldn’t of had the anger to manifest Golden Gun. So being dead is an elective part of the criteria, just like the species. The main criteria is being worthy and that’s a low bar.

Edited by Jvp WReNCh: 8/25/2022 10:34:06 PMLol I never said you're the only one. Again, it's unwise to look at the limited information given in an expansion reveal & say it doesn't make sense. You're not meant to have all the answers right now.
-
That was sarcasm, as out of the two of us, you are the only one not thinking things all the way through. As evidenced by the hypocrisy of saying you can’t say it’s wrong but you can you say it’s right, despite not knowing anymore then me. So whose being unwise again? Then there is the stuff you literally made up to try and connect the dots to show me how wrong I am. News flash: if you have to make crap up to connect the dots, they don’t connect. Didn’t ask for all the answers. You’re the one forgoing the answers to make stuff up… We have old known powers and new powers and a new description for their theme. The stated theme does not fit the old. And the reasoning used by a dev to explain the relation between the new power Strand and conciousness was utterly hilarious. ‘Strings connect minds ergo Strand makes sense’ 🤣
As evidenced by the hypocrisy of saying you can’t say it’s wrong but you can you say it’s right, despite not knowing anymore then me.
I didn't make a counter claim to your argument though. I'm not pretending to know anything more about strand than you, which is why I've told you repeatedly that you shouldn't comment on the plot of an unreleased story until you've experienced it fully.
-
Looks like you did.
Idk about stasis specifically, but the darkness has always been a tool used by living things with a sense of purpose. - That was pretty much a requirement for every guardian but shin malphur.-
Didn’t comment on the “plot of an unreleased story”. Unless you think the storyline for Lightfall is about how Hive magic is related to the consciousness. Cause that’s not what I saw in the trailer… I commented on the relation of powers we’ve known about for years being ascribed to a theme they don’t fit. Weird how you think that’s the plot of the story…
I’m wondering when Darkness was ever mind magic. Or how the ultra bad of the cosmos wasn’t smart enough to learn Strand.
I saw a comment on YouTube that I think actually makes sense (And I’m bad with words, so the way I explain it will probably make less sense). The Witness wants to reduce the universe to nothing, while Strand binds all things together. It is, in a way, everything: sort of an antithesis to what the Witness stands for. So my guess is that the Witness knows about it but refuses to use/doesn’t need it.
-
Well the only thing we know about strand is that is our guardian is literally the first person ever to find and use it. And that’s it green. That’s it. Not sure why you’re getting so annoyed about something that’s not out for 6 months
-
A dev in the showcase said that Darkness is about consciousness. I write as a side job. So when I see bad writing by people who do it as a main job, what can I say? Don’t see why you care that I annoyed, what’s it to you? So do you want to play some more?
-
The whole consciousness thing isn’t out of the blue for lightfall the entire plot point of witch queen was based around this mind stuff
-
Darkness is darkness , and strand is something new, based on parts of darkness and likely parts of light too, hence why we’re the first person to use it. Use your head

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 8/25/2022 12:25:22 AMExcept they said it’s a Darkness power, not a light power. Didn’t need light power to learn Stasis and the Witness didn’t need light power to learn the power to take. Since when does Darkness power need light power? Wouldn’t tell someone to use their head when you literally spit nonsense out of your pie hole.
