I remember during Warmind I was grinding for the EP shotgun, it took me about 70 runs eventually.
I go on YT and BOOM I see Whisper of The Worm, I click it and I realize a secret mission was launched.
What happened to these? These dope missions that came out of nowhere and instantly got everyone excited like it was a new expansion.
In all honesty sometimes I wished Bungie would scrap the 6 man activity and focus on releasing a secret mission with a dope exotic.
I just wish I could feel that feeling again, the excitement and adrenaline those missions gave.

1 ReplyCan’t please everyone. Exotic quests are like raids. They consume a lot of development resources while not having a lot of replayability. Whereas the seasonal activities are the opposite. The generally use existing in-game objects, and have a great deal of replay value for the average player.

8 RepliesGreed and laziness took over, all effort goes into eververse and a boring seasonal activity
-
Simple answer? Greed and capitalism. D2 is on the backburner, no quality content is being produced anymore because the game is in the cash cow state. They are currently milking it dry with a bunch of throwaway reissued uninspired trash content to make addicts spend more time and money within the game with next to zero effort. Watch some mobile gacha game employee training videos and tell me how many similarities you see in the trash version that Destiny has turned into nowadays.

They do not want to give exotics away without some sort of payment. Look at Destiny, you have to pay close to $200 to get the entire game, and it's only gonna get more expensive. They want you to pay to get access to the raids and dungeons outside of the legends category. And besides, a secret mission would not be secret if you have to pay for a DLC to get it. Sad to see a great game become a cash-cow.

This season shows they are putting out the bare minimum at this point If there was a secret mission, it would direct you to the silver purchase screen to complete it
-
They can't get you to pay for a secret mission, otherwise it wouldn't be a secret.
-
We can't tell you what happened to secret missions. Otherwise they wouldn't be secret
-
Personally, I’d like all the old side missions back in some form. Preferably Presage style: normal = no timer. Masterwork= timer.

1 ReplyRemember how eververse “paid for the whisper mission” and how we should stop complaining about eververse because “it’s just cosmetics” and it was supposed to allow them to do bonus secret mission stuff stuff all the time. I guess not. I guess eververse profits just go straight to the corporate bonus account like I thought it would. Now we have dungeons, which we pay for directly a la cart. And we still have eververse.

2 RepliesActivision’s studios, High Moon and Vicarious Visions had a huge hand in many of those fun stuff in early D2. Whisper, Zero hour, Menagerie. Since the split, those really cool missions have disappeared unfortunately. Would love to have those vibes again.

2 RepliesThey’re in the basement at Mar-a-lago!!!

2 RepliesBungo: that was an Activision idea…they made us do it. We don’t like Activision.

Too hard,can't Ctrl+C , Ctrl-V a secret mission 😓

8 RepliesI loved the Whisper Mission, Zero Hour and Master Presage. Sadly the community is pretty divided on time based missions like those. I really enjoyed running them again and again and helping people through, challenging myself to be quicker. Master Presage did 195 runs helping 207 people get the Flawless emblem, enjoyed every moment of it. If they brought something similar back would be really excited and would grind it, help people and enjoy challenging my own efficiency. The thing is the Bad Juju mission, Vox Obscura, Harbinger etc…. never hit the mark.
-
Nothing happened to them. Last one we had was last season with vox obscura. They are just part of the seasons now.
-
3 RepliesSadly I think they’re a thing of the past. You can argue that DMT, Hawkmoon and Dead Messenger were all secret missions. I believe this is what the Whisper-style mission has become. The season pass model means Bungie need to advertise and develop things that will sell and as much as I think Whisper is maybe the best piece of destiny content ever, I think it’s pay off isn’t worth the investment for Bungie. I hope I’m wrong.
-
They can’t really do that anymore as pc players hack the game to spoil all the new stuff.
-
1 ReplyThey are so secretive that no one knows about them
I just wish I could feel that feeling again, the excitement and adrenaline those missions gave.
Tail of the dragon haha.

5 RepliesThe problem is even if Bungie made secret missions, they literally can't keep it a secret. Data miners will find it in 5 seconds and then all the thirsty YouTubers with will rush to make a video on it. With a stupid expression in the thumbnail.
-
4 RepliesThey turned into dungeons and missions like Presage and Harbinger.
-
2 RepliesThe last (and imo best) secret mission was presage.

Not gonna lie. I do miss those secret missions. And all exotic missions in general. I had lost my original account back before season of arrivals. And it wasn’t until that season where I remade another account. And those exotic quest such as the one for Bad Juju, Thorn, and Outbreak kept me busy, and were fun to go after and run through. That sole season was possibly the only season where I actually did more PvE than PvP. And it was because those exotic quest stood out from other “normal” missions. And you knew the reward was going to be a sweet weapon you couldn’t wait to get your hands on. And they weren’t as commonly seen because people had to actually attempt these missions/objectives to unlock those exotics. But of course, I like to think Bungie has added a secret mission or two since the release of The Witch Queen expansion. And as always, they need to be kept secret and kept safe. Hence for why they’re secret missions.
