Pve? Lumina hands down, pvp? Thorn no questions asked. They can both work in either mode but lumina was always designed for pve and thorn was designed for pvp.

Edited by kellygreen45: 8/4/2022 4:08:51 PMDepends on the situation. If you're looking to just maximize individual damage, then go with Thorn. (with Necrotic Grips, as a Warlock) But Lumina is best thought of as a TEAM support weapon. One that synergizes (if you're a Warlock) heavily with Boots of the Assembler. Doubly so if you're running as a Solar Warlock. So if I'm going into a situation where I need to think of helping other team members to stay alive, and buff THEIR damage as well? (Raid, Dungeon, GMNF...) I'd run Lumina all the time if it weren't for the Champion system and the seasonal mods.

1 ReplyIt depends on the context, really. PVP, Thorn all the way. Lumina on the occasion that i want to try something more supportive. In PVE, Lumina, cause even as a solo player there's enough ally targets around that you get the benefit from the Noble Rounds. If the area is too dense with Thralls, then Thorn w/Necrotic Grip because poison cloud deaths are kind of hilarious. All in all, there are situations for both. Though, i do wish Lumina had a tad more utility sometimes...

Both guns are great but for pve you'd be better off running a fatebringer with firefly or eyesluna (with headstone). That frees up the exotic slot then.

Thorn for solo, Lumina for groups.

Thorn with Necrotic Grips

Edited by Brickinthewall87: 8/3/2022 9:19:54 PMThorn is more general purpose, but with the right build and good teammates lumina is a solid pick as well, just a bit more complicated to take advantage of Edit: you could slo think of it this way: luminas benefits are only good when you have a fiteteam. Thorn would be objectively better when running solo

Edited by Aether, Primordial of Lght: 8/3/2022 8:03:21 PMAs a healing Warlock i liked Lumina more but since the nerf to Benevolent Dawn (it now gives a Stat decrease) I probably should lean more towards Thorn for effectiveness. ... But i personally prefer the aesthetic and functionality of Lumina so I'd probably select this HC. Its all personal preference in the end but the better support weapon for PvE is Lumina, better weapon for PvP can be Thorn but Lumina is still viable imo.

Use them both, then you will be able to decide for yourself.

LUMINA! I got it through the quest so it has a special place in my heart.
nibbles crayon
Depends what your trying to use them for, if your planning on playing a support role go with lumina, if not use thorn.

Ehy Guardian. Is the thread about a choice for you or are you asking to the players which one they prefer?
