Solstice Event - Success? or a Disappointment?

Praedyth😘 - old
Easier to get glow ✅ Easy high stat armor ✅ Shotgun with good pve/pvp perks ✅ Event ends faster with more loot ✅ It’s better than the years prior, Success. -

4 RepliesNot a single high stat roll after 80 armors means it sucks. 52-55 isnt high stat bungie. High stat is 65 and up.
-
Huge fail: Broken for me and many for almost a full week (ash) Armour rerolling 50% of the time drops stats, seems to peak at 63 even when not, so pretty much useless Bonfire is mind-blowingly mundane, stand in 1 spot n kill bosses, run to taken, repeat. Free event but still very poor

Another monumental abject failure

I was done with it after about an hour of playing it. It's garbage....looks great, but plays like very little thought went into designing it. I really hope the Halloween event is better, like getting an upgraded version of the og haunted forest. Now that was fun.
-
I didn't even play. I heard it was painfully average though.
-
My primary problem with it is the last 2 kindling needed being locked behind pvp. That is quite disappointing, instead of having a choice (which they do for things here and there, they really should use that more). That coupled with grind because of the bugged multiplier makes it a downer for me. I hoped for the better with the TWAB beforehand, only disappointed instead.

It was OK. Last year felt more exciting in the EAZ with the racing to get the packages, jumping from rooftop to rooftop get to fight a mini boss, and more areas to explore. Downside of it was that a New Light couldn't complete the final challenges and get all the glows. This year's challenges were accessible enough to get the glows and get a title. I saved enough Bright Dust since last year to buy two different glow sets (6000 BD each) in the Store. It's not the white glows but good enough for closure. Currently, we have 3 ways of trying to get higher stat armors which Solstice is good for players who may lack a season or two. New Lights: Eva is the place to farm your Bright Dust!

Waiting until week 3 for progression acceleration was a kick in the face.
-
At least its not worse than the last version. So thats something.
-
Great idea. - poor execution.

For an event in this game it’s pretty successful. Gives us armor that is borderline customizable and high stat rolled and gives a ton of rewards. Expecting some crazy moment of triumphs event like in the past is a bit unreasonable. Also wish the tower stayed like how it is now
-
The only positive is the fact we get an actual new armour set from solstice, unlike all the others where that's 100% from Eververse. Events need more rewards if they're not going to change. I just find it weird that titles now seem to be the main reward for them, you can't really have fun with a title.
-
Playing the same format on the same maps for the same type of armor, glows white. then comes the orniment you have to buy, same armor but glows like a salmon pink rather then orange .
-
The same repetitive crap that gets old real quick to get some glow effect on my armor, yawn

Edited by Necrogen: 8/4/2022 1:24:43 PMSolstice event was literally par for the course. If people come in expecting more out of this then of course they're going to say it's pretty disappointing. Each event is basically the same thing with a different coat of paint. It's more Destiny in Destiny. What people have to see it's what's between the lines. They're experimenting with rerolling stats on armor. They're gathering data. I think their experimental "re-roll for stats" was sorely needed years ago but, whatever... There's no use in complaining "X thing should have been done years ago".

11 RepliesAs with every event, I acquired a lot of legendary shards, enhancement cores, ascendent shards.....a couple interesting rolls on 2 guns....so in that regard it was a success. I never really use the armor. As a long time player, I'm not needing new armor honestly. The transmog (new) issue, I think will get fixed after the event. The big thing about these events is they are not really designed for veteran or endgame players. They are really gear at the more casual base. Not saying this to be rude but...who needs to run 15 strikes (per toon)? Casual players who may not otherwise get the seasonal weapon/ornament without another event to influence core activities is the answer. The same group that most likely buy the $10 deal. That is ok, everyone is happy (Bungie and casual base). Bungie relies on us veteran and endgame players to just simply finish the objectives because we already to them. (Not gonna address the lack of acceleration until 3rd week because that's another topic.) Long story longer...it is a success for me and what I get out of every event. It probably was a success for a lot of casual players that may only care about one character..... Was it necessarily exciting...not really but it was rather easy and this week will make the other 2 characters easy if one cares.

There should have been some type of boost after each character completed. Grinding gets old

2 RepliesEdited by TheShadow: 8/3/2022 1:56:12 PMI haven't played destiny in a little while and already knew it was a disappointment as most of the community knew but they ran it anyway for whatever reason. Overall Bungie got what they wanted, as usual, showing numbers and making cash. The shop and other means to make money is more important than investing our money into the game to improve the experience. There never seems to be a win-win, it's always Bungie wins and the player base loses.

6 RepliesDidn't even bother playing it. The WQ campaign was disappointing, last season was dull, and this season has been even more so.

2 forgettable weapons that are just reskins of weapons we’ve been using since year 1, with the base model not really being interesting to begin with and the perk pool lacking. An armor gimmick that results in a long grind for armor that is worse than focusing armor from this season or farming the pit of heresy boss. Not to mention that you can get a good roll only for it to become bad once you try to upgrade it. An activity that is fairly boring and uninspired. Run around, pick up ball, throw ball at object, all in a reused area. Interesting concept, mechanics, or gameplay? Nope. But hey, at least it only takes around 5-10 minutes right? Who knows, maybe if the devs working on destiny had a reasonable amount of time to make these events they could be better. But alas people really wanted a constant flow of content. I can’t even really say I’m disappointed, I just wish bungie stopped doing these rushed events as all they do is take up valuable dev time that could be used elsewhere, all for something that is generally disliked by the community.
-
Don't worry, despite the polls overwhelming results, bungie will file this under "Ignored."
-
1 ReplyMy 1st solstice and I skipped it. There is not one thing about it that I liked.
-
Played first day, haven't touched it since.

Garbage microtransaction and time wasting trash event. Nothing more to say. Bungie in a nutshell.
