Edited by Yamabushi999i: 8/2/2022 9:42:22 PMTrue Vanguard makes reasonable points in the introduction. However he then makes at least two suggestions or opinions that fly in the face of facts as clarified in the TWABs data. First, is that outliers of high effectiveness play more and so, in effect, deserve a privileged game (better wait times, a plethora of lowskill players to smash up and get We Rans from, more relaxed games - for them only, non-meta loadouts - also for them only) to the detriment of average players. That's a unreasonable and unfounded argument. If you are an outlier you should be waiting more, an outlier wait time or you're queue jumping to be ruining others games. Secondly, the idea that outlier protection would be sufficient. I mean he has to be joking. If you look at the TWABs skill bell-curve, outlier protection is only going to stop the tiny amounts of players at the far left and the far right. Everyone else, ALMOST THE ENTIRETY OF CRUCIBLE, the bulk of bell-curve, then gets no SBMM. And it only takes a difference amongst all of those of:
If someone is 200 skill above you, you can definitely tell they are better than you, and they will win ~75% of engagements against you. The opposite is true if someone is 200 or more below you. By the time you get to a difference of 400, the better players are going to win ~90% of engagements and lower-skilled players need to get extremely lucky to pull off a win. Once you get to a difference of 600 there is basically zero chance for the lower-skilled player to ever win a 1v1 conflict.
TWAB Stats. So Outlier Protection is simply going to a. Make outliers at either end wait even more, whilst b. Be completely ineffectual at changing foregone conclusion stomps as highlighted. Coolguy too has also argued for the same ineffectual, pointless cop-out that is Outlier Protection. Anything other than SBMM it would seem. Again, the skill discrepancy band info highlights how useless this would be for almost everyone - not just the average - almost everyone.

Edited by AubsTheBelieber: 8/2/2022 7:43:17 AMBull -blam!-. The majority of Streamers care more about their money and livelihoods due to money, then waiting a tiny bit longer for a match. No one will watch a streamer that is playing bad. They want to stomp noobs, look better, get more views and view time, which makes more money. No reasonable person would pick slightly faster match times over making money off YouTube. But alot of them don't care your enjoyment of gaming when getting pinned against them, selfish thinkers.

1 ReplyYou forgot the “I don’t care if YouTubers are mad” option

Its not the YouTube community that is upset Its the nobody sweats that farm KD and think they are good because they only pub stomp

Well, when it comes to the video which no one in this thread is talking about because they'd rather talk about people like the whole world is twitter now, he's a little off when he talks about average players. At least when it was SBMM before if you were average and had one or two good matches you'd get thrown in with top tier players and receive some of the worst gameplay quality that this game can do. So hopefully the overall outcome for LSBMM is good. Because too much of that level of gameplay quality (really for anyone, and not just me) combined with some of the kinds of comments people have been making on here that have nothing to do with how the game works isn't going to cut it unless its justified by a truly defendable outcome.

32 RepliesYa’ll enjoy making good players mad more than actually improving and being happy that you got SBMM. Gonna be three matches for the pinnacle and out for most anyways. This won’t change much.

I watched that video and he actually right about it. Actual good players hate sbmm because of very bad connections and long queue, not because we want to stomp casuals in full fire team. I always thought, that crucible should have a protection for new lights and bad players, because 9/10 times I play with them in my team, not against. Team balancing was the biggest issue and still might be, we will see It's really interesting to see if people who begged for sbmm will actually play pvp) I'm not even going to be surprised if people wouldn't play pvp regardless of matchmaking. For example, imagine listening to players, who don't play raids about how raids should be done, that's how pvp works now

20 RepliesTheir career revolves around playing pvp. When it takes 10-15 minutes just to find a laggy game with players from different continents, you can understand why they might be upset.

What’s a youtube?

1 ReplyI remember that TV dude doing a stream and saying he'd be playing with people in the comment section, but only paid up members of HIS youtube channel, because 'they provide for my family' They dont give a single f about Destiny 2, the player base or the state of the game. All they are interested in is dropping 50 against grandads and getting those donations and patreon.

1 ReplySharing names in fourms is classed as name and shame. Doesn't even matter if its a well known player or YouTube or twitch streamer. You are not supposed to out player names on these fourms. 🤷♂️
