In order to enter in a GM Nightfall, you have to be at the Pinnacle cap with +15 artifact bonus; this because it's a very difficult activity and you have to be prepared to be able to complete it. I mean: how do you expect to complete The Lightblade GM if you are at 1560?
So why shouldn't the same rule apply in Trials of Osiris?
I'm not saying that a player must have the pvp skills, the right weapons and armor with god stats and perks. But it's something I've noticed mostly in Freelancers: people at 1520 or less at rank 10 of the Season Pass (probably New Light) who had no idea what they were doing.
If you only gave players access to the Power Cap with no artifact bonus, it would solve one of the problems of Trials Freelance: allies.
And this thing would not only help for vet, but also for New Light because they would know that, before doing that activity, you must first rise in power and prepare yourself well.
As for GM Nightfall.

I'm not an avid Trials player, as I can't find a team willing to practice, learn, and improve. That said, I can understand this suggestion completely. In a light enabled mode, where it's supposed to be the pinnacle of PvP in the game, being dropped on a team with a 1520 light level kinderguardian sounds on paper like an "L" before it begins, as they brought tickle guns to a battle. I would have to agree a threshold would be appropriate now that matchmaking and freelance are options. You never know though, Bungie could go the "all inclusive" route and just remove light level from Trials..
