This post is not throwing shade or slander toward Bungie/Sony. I am asking a legitimate question about things concerning the recent copyright takedowns on YouTube.
Will my project be taken down, or will it be allowed to stay on YouTube?
For context, I am working on a project with a few other people, turning all of Destiny 1 into a TV-like, episodic series. Episodes are roughly 23-25 minutes long (with a few exceptions), and there will be copyrighted music in it. This series is roughly 24 episodes long, and there is quite a bit of work completed so far (and a lot left to be done). Our goal is to have this premiere after all the episodes are fully recorded, edited, and finished, so we can release these episodes weekly without any downtime between them.
I am concerned with all the recent takedowns and strikes that we would upload these episodes only for them to be removed. I want to make it clear, no one is making money off of this, the videos & episodes are not being monetized, and all credit is being given to the song creators & artists, both in the video and the video description explicitly. I expect if any episodes were to be monetized, it would be due to the song copyright holders claiming monetization. That is fine. I just want to make it clear, I and the others working on this project are not out to make money from this.
Will our project still be okay? I am hoping for a reply from someone here at Bungie, even if it takes a week or so. We have made great progress on making this project, but I would hate for us to finish this, only to see it taken down because of copyright issues. I am willing to follow any guidelines provided by Bungie to make sure our series is released properly and smoothly.
